Re: The Dark Knight Rises

And neither are really believable but rather they are acceptable because they are so hot. Christian Bale gets into crazy shape for these movies and everyone's always saying how respectable it is so why shouldn't we hold the female vigilante to a similar standard.

Because sex sells and unfortunately in Hollywood, sexy for females means skinny and not muscular.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

:nono Jessica Biel and Gina Carano disagree with this. ^^^ :exactly:

Exactly what I was about to post about Gina, she isn't really muscular she's toned, same with Jessica. Both are far more sexy then Anne as far as I'm concerned.

that's two women out of the hundreds who are rail thin. your argument is not valid.

and I think Biel and Carino have better bodies, i'm not into stick skinny either.

But Biel has lost a lot of weight now and she's looking horsey. :(

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

I'm not saying she isn't hot, she is, she just doesn't have the build for someone that's beating up armed henchman.

Also some of you guys post referance pics of these women from 10-12 years ago that are from photoshopped professional photographers. Most of these women are only as hot as "normal" girls that alot of us have dated.

But the point here isn't and shouldn't simply is Catwoman someone that makes my ____ wet, it's again that I don't buy that this body is taking down not one but multiple armed escaped convict murderers at the same time. This was taken last week does it look like she could beat up prisoners? I don't want Joanie Laurer muscles or anything but someone that's at least toned. Anne is just skinny.

I also think aside from practicality it would have been more faithful to the current incarnations of the character to have her hair short like that in the actual movie.

ahem...
want me to go down the list of women that are super unrealistic for action movies, I'll go there bro, in fact, Ill use pictures

this is nothing new, is just the way it is. You’re not supposed to buy the action on the basis of the muscles, but on the basis of the action. This is a definite suspension of disbelief issue, and this is a movie with a guy dressed as a bat, so,

Problem is your the same fans who praise Nolan for realism and Christian for his routine yet turn on that whenever it suits your arguement. Unless your really comparing your beloved Nolan to Paul W.S. Anderson? He can cast whoever he wants in these, he chose Anne, I would guess soley based on her acting abilities. It's not the worst problem to have, but it's a problem.

As for the rest of them, Uma didn't exactly kill a ton of people without help of a sword, and the rest are genetically mutated in some way. Catwoman isn't a mutant and can't slow down time to dodge bullets.

well, Two Face could never ever live in the real world, people have discussed that for hundreds of posts now, so you're telling me the new "Two face is unrealistic" argument will be "catwoman is too skinny"
then you have the original catwoman, Burton's catwoman, same thing, skinny, I don't know, I don't have a problem with that because i dont have a problem with Resident Evil, or Kill Bill, I was just saying, this is not Nolan doing something wrong, this is the way hollywood is, Plus, I think everyone cares a lot more about the acting than being physically fit, what good is it if they are fit to beat up guys and they cant act,

I dont know I dont stick around these threads long enough to see every arguement, don't know who's said what about Two-Face, I'm stating my opinion that there were and are far better options. I wasn't one of the Heath shouldnt be the Joker people either before you play that card, I even think Bane looks ok albeit short, but Catwoman I don't like.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

Anne may not be some people's cup of tea but she could be mine. :)

The only reason it's not valid is because people like you keep defending Hathaway in roles like Catwoman. And others defend Angelina Jolie in her action roles (which are completely unbelievable). So I guess that means you're part of the problem. :nana: :lol

Well, Uma Thurman totally sold me on the illusion in the Kill Bill movies. She came across as tall, slim (but not rail thin), and strong. I could easily believe that her build fit her character--who seemed to be more of a skilled assassin who ends fights quickly than a brawler that wins by relying on brute force. It helps that she is tall for a woman, almost 6', right?

Angelina seemed fit enough in the Tomb Raider movies, and I remember her seeming tough in Wanted, even if she was skinnier by then.

And Milla has a shotgun, so there. :pfft:

I didn't see any of the other films that starred those other girls in action roles, so I can't comment on how convincing they can be be as tough characters.

Actually, I'd excuse Jennifer Garner from that list for Elektra. She might not have acting chops, but she worked her ass off (literally), and was in pretty ____ing great shape for that role.

I listed those pics to show that thats the way hollywood works, that's just the way it is, they cast small girls to play action heroes,

I personally do not have a problem with it, as long as they can act and they are pretty they can keep doing this as long as they like, all these women i showed are beautiful good actresses, (besides Garner, she is beautiful though)
Im saying is, Nolan saw something in her that he liked, he was probably thinking about the performance, I dont have a problem when small girls are in action movies, you guys are the ones that do, i was just pointing out, is the norm.

at this point, should it be that much of a surprise, i mean after movies like this:

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

Isn't Catwoman in the comics fit and skinny? Huh, weird.... To bad this isn't a comic book movie or the casting would be pretty god.

:rolleyes2
