you know what i meant, the Avengers VS TDK thread was a pretty good example, people bashing batman just because Avengers is new, a lot of people want this movie to fail, specially because it will make avengers look even better, "The movie that destroyed the Batman"

I'll be honest with you, not that box office matters when it comes to quality (cough Avatar cough, although it does matter if you ever want to see a sequel to a movie you enjoyed), but I never expected a Marvel movie to financially perform and critically score as Avengers did, never.

I expected the only other superhero movie to financially beat TDK would be TDKR, never in a million years a Marvel movie.

Josh, did you just call Batman a HOE! :lol

No, I wouldn't want to have someone go all crazy on me in this thread again. :lol

Come on. :thud: Was there some of that? Sure, and there will be some when TDKR comes out. You'll have some people screaming that they just saw the greatest movie that ever was. The Avengers kicked ass and as of right now is the best super hero movie I've seen in my 30 years on this planet. I do not need or want TDKR to fail in order to make it look better. Seriously, take a step back and truly think with some clarity before making these kinds of statements.

:lol I wouldn't buy the statue, but I may rep a rogues tee.

Guess, we're just two sides of the same coin. :lol

Do not lie to me, You would feel good if Rises failed, you wouldn't say it maybe, but you would get a happiness from it, I can tell,

No, I wouldn't. I am very much looking forward to seeing this film. I'm not totally pleased about pretending the Joker didn't exist but other than that I'm still looking forward to this. I don't go to the theater looking to waste my money.

Yeah lol, who goes to see a movie just to see how bad it is? Other than critics of course, that's a waste of money.

Right. I may blow a lot of money on these toys, movies, and games but I damn well make sure I like what my money does.

in the end i think the ONLY winner here is all of US...the fans.
go back to 78....Superman,89...Batman,99....X men,the 2000's....Spidey,Elektra,Daredevil etc etc and now where in the here and now with movies like Iron Man,Thor,Cap A,The Avengers...Bats Begins,The Dark Knight and soon to be Amazing Spidey and TDKR....

I for one DON'T want any of these movies to fail, and stand alone on there own for being great movies with a great story to tell.
We get to see things never seen before in cinemas, characters come to life from the comic book pages.

For so long Hollywood looked down and frowned upon OUR genre....and finally the past few yrs it is turning around...

Sorry for being OT...needed to say it and have been wanting too for a long time.

:lol I think the Avengers vs. TDK thread was a hard dose of reality for the Nolancompoops getting a taste of the very medicine they've been trolling for years now. And to some extent it worked considering you're still having a hard time sitting down. :lol

Despite a couple things like Cap's outfit and the Phantom Menace ending, I loved Avengers (but wasn't sure Joss would pull it off) and am hoping TDKR is a success. There are aspects I dislike about it (like Bane's size and dogfaced Hathaway) and aspects I loath about it (like Nolan's ignoring all things Joker) but despite that I'm hoping it works and that in the end, I love it as well.

I think the only impact Avengers should have on the genre is setting the bar for how to do a good team movie. If they make a Justice League movie, that's where you can really measure up to Avengers.

I just cannot see DC getting it together to make a Justice League movie anywhere near the scale, quality, and most importantly: fun, as the Avengers

Noone saw Marvel pulling it off either just a few yrs ago.

DC with their current management seem incapable of it, hopefully there's a shakeup there.

What was the hard dose of reality ? A 4 year old movie against the flavor of the month, and TDK wasn't all that far behind in the poll, considering....

It's certainly not easy, how many movies have failed trying to get in a lot of characters from a franchise. I applaud everyone involved for making it work.

I think the key is individual origin movies so when you get to the group, you can just have things happen.

To make matters worse, they still don't see the value in establishing a DCU in film before running with a JLA. I'm not saying a JLA won't work post MoS and the Batman reboot, but there won't be much of an investment in the onscreen characters as there could've been had they not poked fun at Marvel and instead, borrowed the concept.

See? It's still working. :rotfl

That silent era quote is obviously taken out of context. He's referring to the Heinz Stadium scene being the largest non-greenscreen/matte painting shoot since 1925's "Ben-Hur." I really don't think he's referring to the film as a whole.

As for the Joker thing, the 8 year gap in time really makes it a non-issue for me. If this were taking place only a year later, I'd not only to expect to hear a mention to Joker, but I would also expect to hear what happened to Reese. Both of these things isn't a big deal any more. They're long since passed. TDK took place closer to the events of BB and we heard nothing of Ra's or LoS in that film. They included Scarecrow because he was a loose end. Joker's not a loose end in this film.

I'd be intersted in a Rogue's jersey just for "Sport's Day" here at school. I wear my Cubs jersey on our field trip to the Cub's games and am not really interested in any other team. But if it's from Batman... :lol
