I'd rather have it as an independent item...like the Iron Man suit up gantry. Of course that would cost more than just making it out of packaging material, but it would also be much higher/sturdier quality.

Yeah, screw packaging design.

We need it as a proper release :lecture

So far the soundtrack is shaping up to be as ground breaking as the 1989 Batman was.

:rock

Then again, I could be wrong. :lol

The more I think about it, the more I think you guys are right. Even if it was made of high quality materials, it wouldn't be authentic, as Batman doesn't exactly keep spare hands and faces in his armory.:lol I might have more hope for an independent if HT didn't announce that Iron Man armory and never say anything more about it. The last thing I want to see is another Iron Man product, but when it comes to dioramas, they're currently 1 for 1.

If they don't make it, i'll get someone else to :lol

Maybe skywarp after he's done with his TDK version :lol

Do an independent Bruce Wayne figure with a separate batsuit. Doesn't even have to be a suit you can put on the Wayne figure ... just one to fill the Batcave display. Exactly like this picture ...

... right down to the badass dogbite scar on his arm. Could even do the batcave computer system along with it. A full batcave setup would look great with the Tumbler, Batpod and Bat.

Now that I think of it -- I'm kinda hoping the Bane figure comes with a crushed Batman cowl.

No need for an extra suit to fill the armory...just do it like the IM Gantry. You can buy an empty armory if you already have the figure and weapons to fill it, or you can buy a combo pack that comes with the figure. Both options would need to come with a swappable empty cowl head though to complete the look.

I don't think HT would make a "plain-clothes" Bruce Wayne, as there is nothing specifically interesting about his civilian look that couldn't be easily kit-bashed anyway if you wanted it.

Not like the Mech Test Tony Stark --- even though he is in his normal identity, there is enough with the boots, the wired arm sleeves, arc reactor and repulsors to make it an interesting figure. Bruce Wayne in a black t-shirt (or even a suit), just doesn't have that much character-specific appeal to warrant a separate figure.

I disagree.

If MIB Agents can get figures, why not Bruce Wayne? Mind you Medicom already made a 1/6 BW figure for TDK.

I highly doubt HT will make him - just saying, there's no reason it doesn't warrant a figure by itself.

Not to mention how rabid we Batman fans are. BW wouldn't be the biggest issue for me with an armory display. The fact is, I'm already double dipping by getting the 1/4th scale and a 1/6th scale for The Bat, not sure I could justify another for an armory display.

Well, the Men In Black suits are practically their "identity". That's their costumes. The suits are their iconic imagery. I wouldn't really use them in defense of how unappealing a "Bruce Wayne in a tux/suit" would be.

The character of Bruce Wayne of course has the Batman suit, just like the Agent K and Agent J have their black suits.

Having casual or civilian Bruce Wayne figures have always been sort of iffy to me. There's something "odd" about them. To me the only sensible way to have them displayed is unmasked or in some sort of alternate suit like the prototype/survival suit.

Of course I'm sort of being a hypocrite here because I'd probably jump at a chance at the turtle neck, jeans wearing Bruce Wayne from '89 Batman. Especially if he came with the vault. But that's more out of childhood nostalgia (the Kenner Bruce Wayne figure) than actually wanting it. What would I do with a non-Batman suited unmasked Keaton Wayne or Bale Wayne if they don't have a vault, armory or computer monitor of some kind?

I don't know I don't think I could pass on a civilian Bale or Keaton if they came with a vault but I do think having them as a single figure in a tux or suit isn't very appealing. I agree there. It's lack luster and bland.

This is all true. But the MIB Agents very identity is inextricably linked to that look--the thing that makes them recognizable as MIB--is their black suits and ties...you can't do an Agent J and K in jeans and a t-shirt and expect them to be recognizable by their outfits. There is basically one option for the look of MIB figures.

The same thing with the Mech Test Tony Stark...he's not just the hero's alter identity in civilian clothes--or else there would have been no point in doing that figure...he's the hero's alter identity wearing character-specific elements.

For another character in "normal" clothes--Two-Face--the charred suit is necessary because it's a part of his character's unique look and identity. And since they were doing a Two-Face figure anyway, it made sense to do a Harvey when the only change necessary was a head-swap and jacket switch. There's plenty of other suited characters that did not get the figure treatment.

I remember the Medicom Bruce Wayne, but I doubt that figure had much appeal except for completists. Most people who wanted a Bruce Wayne figure kit-bashed their own to their liking (with a better suit than Medicom's or motorcycle outfit etc). It just doesn't seem like something that would be worth HT's time.

Yeah DiFabio and I are of pretty much the same opinion here. I'm also not saying I would necessarily pass on a Bruce Wayne figure from Hot Toys before I saw it...but like DiFabio, I think it would be best to bundle it with something very Batman-specific....not just a dude in a suit. We're getting dangerously close to "fashion doll" territory here boys. ;)

I can hear void running to quickly pose his Bruce Wayne figure next to anything Batman related. :lol

Crap, there goes my Bruce Banner figure I always wanted. :gah:

I think the plainclothes Wayne would only work in conjunction with a batcave setup -- like a combination of the test suit Tony Stark and the Iron Man suit-up gantry.

Batman's suit-up technique isn't high-tech enough to work as well by itself. There's no gantry ... it'd be just a clear cabinet. And, Wayne probably isn't interesting enough by himself ... just Christian Bale in a t-shirt or suit.

But, together, with a suit in the cabinet, I think a "suit-up Bruce Wayne" with batcave stuff would sell extremely well. Maybe even do a heavily scarred Bruce Wayne figure to go along with it ...

Something that could generate a set-up like this one ...

Batman-Scars-1-337x500.jpg

I'd buy one -- and I'm a harder sell than most on here.

Well Bruce Wayne in suit would always need to be displayed with something Bat-specific IMO

That's why mine is next to my TDK armoury.

A 89 Keaton would be perfect next to the Batcomputer or vault.

So a TDKR Wayne + Armoury would be a great product with much appeal IMO
