I finally got around to taking some phone pictures... They're pretty blurry, but I think you get the idea of the sculpt....

And there's good news, and bad news...



Bad news is, I'm stupid!

Good news is, I forgot to try plugging my camera into the wall to charge instead of only my computer.... And after I plugged it into the wall and unplugged it again, this time it actually turned on again!



So this camera might not be permanently dead after all!

It does still have its issues though, I may still consider buying a new one eventually...


Anyway, I'll try to take some better pics of the sculpt with my real camera tomorrow.

So what do you guys think of him now? (From what you can tell from these pics, at least...)

Is he looking a little more like Sam Witwer/ Starkiller? I can't tell anymore, after staring at pics of Witwer's face for so long, everybody is starting to look like Sam Witwer to me!

it's coming along really nicely man!I love the jaw, chin and cheek bones! I think mine are a bit on the bigger side. nose is looking good to!

eyes are going to be pain! at least they are and hopefully were (implying them being fixed now ) for me

I think the bottom lip needs to be pulled back some though, but the upper lip position looks fine as it is.

But yea I'm jealous of those cheekbones

keep it up man! now where's unsung's sculpt to add to the party?

Still just a lump of clay on a stick. I haven't had any time to work on it yet, maybe in a week or so.

Alrighty then! Necropo- ...err.... Update time!

I have been rather busy with a ton of other (non 1/6) projects, and just life in general. However, I did find a tiny bit of time to mash pieces of clay together the other day.

Here are the results! I'm not sure how much more work I'm going to put into the likeness itself (as opposed to getting the details finished), as I've already started working on the ears and hair... I could go on tweaking for all eternity, if I don't set a stopping point soon!

(And trust me, I don't have an eternity to work on anything... )

I think it looks like Witwer/Starkiller more at certain angles than others.... But I really need an outside opinion. I suppose you kind of start to see things differently from other people, when you stare at them for several hours at a time, over the course of many months.


Anyway, tell me what you think!

He definitely needs a nice acetone bath at some point, to smooth him out a little bit... and his eyes could use some de-squif-ifying... But I'm mainly concerned about the overall likeness to Starkiller.


For any of you who are wondering, yes, I am still using my same ol' camera (the one that occasionally refuses to work for hours, or days on end)... I simply haven't had the heart to get a new one yet... Not to mention I didn't want to pull the money out of my ARSE!*

Maybe you should dip a toe into the waters of head-sculpting sometime. I'm sure you could teach yourself if you wanted to, like I did.




So... does anyone else have anything to say about the sculpt? Is it... Good? Bad? Ugly?

I'd really like to see some other opinions on whether or not it looks like Starkiller before I continue working on it. I don't want to go in the wrong direction and mess it up!

it's looking better with every update man. I'd say that it needs a bit more roundness to the head shape. and the most significant feature (and most difficult to sculpt) of Sam Witwer is his lips. once you get those down, the likeness will work itself out IMO. the nose looks good so far and the brow needs to be a bit wider. each half of the chin i think needs to be a bit rounder too. but i want to see this done! you're getting there man just keep working at it!

I'll be honest, I don't see a lot of Witwer in there. It's looking like it will be a great head sculpt, you are certainly improving but not seeing a lot of the character. Focus on specific areas at a time. Starkiller has very distinctive features in some areas, but very generic in others. So, I'd suggest working on one of them until you nail it, like say the lips. Very, very distinctive lips. Jawline and forehead too. Although, you're very close with the forehead.



Again, I think you're on your way with it, and will probably turn out great....I'm just thinking that you may want to refine some areas before getting into heavy detailing.


Also, you can use rubbing alcohol instead of acetone to smooth it out. Not quite as toxic, and cheaper!

I think one of my major probelms is that I've added too much to the cheeks over time, distorting the jawline/chin/face-shape in general. (I think it looked closer to Witwer before I did that) I'll try shaving some clay off, and see if that helps any...

I'll continue to work on the lips and other features... Witwer's lips are so mysterious!... I mean... I'm not sayin,' just sayin'.


(And Unsung, I do happen to have some acetone around, but no rubbing alcohol... And it's not like I polish my nails, so what else am I going to use it for? But thanks for the tip anyway. I'll buy rubbing alcohol once I run out of acetone.)

Alright, just a quick update...

I know it doesn't make much of a difference, but I think he's slightly better now...

(By the way - I plan on taking some clay off the back of his head, later on. I hold the sculpt by the back of the head usually, which means if I cut part of it away, the rest of the sculpt will distort, and the bulgy back of the head will come right back as soon as I've held it for a while.)

TFU is a great game, even if you had to get a copy of it in English and barely understood a word of it, the gameplay is just so fun it would be worth it anyway! It's very fun to unleash the force.

And Starkiller is supposed to look like this:

Ah, I see.... That's too bad... If you ever got a better PC, and you bought one game for it, it should be TFU.

Anyway, now that you have a picture to compare the headsculpt to, do you think it looks fairly accurate?

I will maybe upgrade PC for The Old Republic, so then I can play TFU But I hear TFU II is not too good. It's a true?

IMHO will be better if your HS be higher and narrower. Push him on the sides and he will be better But I'm not best man for any judge.
