I'm extremely glad that actors didn't "research" by investigating the previous incarnations of their characters. The BSG from the 80s was a shallow cartoon and there would be no value for the more interesting characters from the upgrade show.

Actually, we don't know what it would have been. Galactica 1980 is the only version that was from the 80's. It's poor quality was due in part to Lorne Green's influence.

Let's face it, if you want to kill something, there are two people to call: David Bowie, or Barry Van Dyke :rotfl

The current series was created soley for political reasons. The Bryan Singer / Desanto version promised to be faithful to the sense of the original while upgrading it from the 70's to modern production standards. It was already in production when someone decided faithful was a bad idea. Shortly thereafter the current series began development.

The hiring of Richard Hatch was nothing more that to shut him up. He had been a driving force in keeping the idea in people's minds. It was partially due to his campaigning that got the interest for the desanto version.

Masao, why did you even bother to watch BSG if you hate it so much?

Good question.

Actually, I wasn't so much about hate as it was about seeing how bad it was. I didn't hate the show, I though it was funny. But like all prolonged jokes, it got tiresome.

What I hate is moronic arguments about how "A" is better than "B" when "A" clearly falls short on every level. If you happen to like "B", you are somehow stupid because 'everyone' loves "A". Populism is the only judge, not good sense.

To those who worship little statues...As far as awards go; beside the winners of the awards who really cares? If I give away an award, does that make me superior to you? Ok then, your award... Heres your sign.

The same can be said about people who worship "B" and consider anyone who likes "A" as being populist fools who have no taste. This whole argument is ridiculous. So you don't like the new one, big deal, get over it.

I think Dave hit it right on the head... ROME had a similiar fate: high quality acting, excellent sets, and wonderful writers. Unfortunately, those are the budget eaters.

I am just thankful that BSG willhave ample oppurtunity to end things, unlike ROME where the whole final season was paced way to fast.

The original BSG was pure escpaist entertainment from a time when you could watch TV as a diversion from reality and enjoy it for what it was...TV.
The "re-imagining" [it would only be an upgrade if they had updated the original with better props/effects, etc..] seems to me to have overimagined itself into a somewhat convoluted tale. Granted I did not watch it on a regular basis, but what I did see was just not enjoyable to me. Thats not to say you can't like it, it just fell short for me.

I enjoyed the first two seasons of BSG, but this third one was complete shavit. That having said, I will have to admit it is better they wrap this up rather than give me third season quality.
