I have played both SR games, here's the story.

first sentence: Kain is a noble vampire and Raziel is one of his henchmen.

2nd sentence: Raziel grows wings and makes Kain jealous so he banishes him and Raziel comes back to seek retribution.

That's it, it's really easy to detract from a good story if you don't like it.

And SR didn't have a third of the character development and depth TLOU had, AND SR is more like Tomb Raider than TLOU ever will be.

Kain, a noble man is in a bar and it is kicking out time. He leaves the bar and is attacked by a band of thugs and is killed. He is offered re-birth as a vampire by Mortanious to seek his revenge. He comes back and 1 by 1 hunts down his killers and finds out there is a bigger picture behind his betrayal and why he was killed. Eventually he gets to the bottom of it and has killed everybody who conspired against him.

He is offered the chance to sacrifice his life to return "order" to the land as he should never of been but he is a selfish man, and opts to live as an immortal vampire with his dark gift. He then enslaves and rules his land. He sires many of his human enemies to become vampires and therefor his lieutenants.

Centurys shall pass and each one of his lieutenants shal evolve a new gift, One shall evolve beoynd Kain himself and grow wings. Kian Being a jealous power hungry type rips the wings from this lieutenant and casts him in the abyss to die. The same creature that brought Kain back to life offers this Lieutenant Raziel a chance at re-birth and retribution to kill Kain.

He fights his way through the land and kills the brothers who betrayed him, and battles Kain who he thought was his rival. Kain tells him he is lacking of knowledge on the bigger picture.

Thats the abridged version.

Because there is real games out there with actual story, great gameplay that people who think TLOU is game of the year clearly havent played.

But people keep bringing up resident evil, and seeing that there is a market for survival horror still. But then use TLOU as "why" there is a market for survival horror when i personally dont think its the reason why Evil within is popular now.
