Wasn't this rumored over 2/3 years ago? Oh wait, is this yet another thread created to spread more discourse?

no, it was made because snoop said to not derail the ghost busters thread since we were talking so much about it

I think this will be good. it is an action movie and not a comedy so it will be different because they will need the action fans to see it so it will be filmed and marketed differently (I think)

I doubt it. It'll be two hours of move aside boys, I can do it better, crotch hitting, and twirling guys around Black Widow style.

Who knows? Maybe they'll be fighting other women like the Charlie's Angels fillms or Kill Bill (which I love)

One of the reasons the film doesn't sound interesting to me is that there aren't that many female action stars to begin with and the few that have made a carreer out of it, really haven't made any great action films, unlike the male action stars. Did Linda Hamilton make any other significant action film after T2? And she's one of the "big two", the other being Weaver from Alien.

Well it will be interesting to see how this thread goes...hopefully not the route as the Ghostbusters thread.

I really enjoyed the first Expendables movie (bad acting, CGI aside). It was just a silly/fun action movie. I've always wanted them to make something similar with female action stars, so it'll be interesting if this ever gets out of the purgatory it was thrown to almost right out of the gate when it was rumored.

This doesn't bother me nearly as much as Ghostbusters. For a few reasons. The Expendables isn't an iconic franchise, like the Ghostbusters. Monkeying with it isn't that big a deal. You're not taking a franchise that men and boys grew-up with, and rejiggering it into a girl-power movie to placate a bunch of foaming-at-the-mouth SJWs.

And, The Expendables is already a gimmick. That's the idea. It's an action-schlock cameo-driven movie with a rotating band of washed-up action heroes. Rotating through some chicks doesn't change much. The fact that they have so many outdated chick action-heroes kinda betrays the premise that women are deprived of action franchises, anyway.

The real question is ... who's the audience for this? Women don't really watch 80s-style action movies. Even feminists. You can remake a men's comedy for women ... because women watch comedies. You can't really remake an action movie for women. Because they don't want to watch explosions and gunfights, even if the shooters are women. Tomb Raider is the closest analogue I can think of, and it's generally targeted at men ... which also betrays the idea that we misogynists won't watch movies starring women.

I'm not sure this will work, or there will be much demand. But, I'm not irritated at the concept like I am with Ghostbusters. Even if I ultimately don't care enough to see it ... it's a lot easier to shrug-off than taking a beloved franchise and finally making a sequel 30-years later, only to make it for a completely different audience than loved the original.

this could have worked if the quality wasn't so low and if it wasnt so cheesy. the quality is abysmal.

I feel bad for Zoe Bell. I thought she'd be getting the kind of roles Gina Carano does after I saw Angel of Death.

on dvd? I want to see it- just cannot stop looking at the cheese....some bad movies are fun to watch-this looks like another category...bad on bad
