1 Nicholson Joker left (out of about 6-8).

I hope you guys know what you're doing...

What if the announcement turns out to be busts?

It won't. HT has been hounded for a long time for these. They wouldn't have teased it if they weren't making 1:6 figs from the movie.

Shame on you for even suggesting it, Wor-Gar. :nono

:D

I just wanted a few to have that momentary sinking feeling...

Burton's Batman is too much of a cash cow not to make 1/6 figures from. It's a wonder its taken anyone so long.

The real question will be: is the first offering gonna be the best? This is always a concern with HT now.

I don't understand why these were so popular. Sovereign Studios' head and face sculpts were always garbage, and I never understood the appeal. Even his Batman stuff, with most of the face obscured, still looks like a puckered arse with human features.

cause they havent got any other options :dunno

if there werent any DX jokers or bank robber, Im sure most of us would have settled for the V1 joker :rotfl

I think the earlier Sovereign versions were fair superior to the later offerings. Once he "refined" the sculpt, the quality dropped.

The early ones (2003-2005) used the Billken sculpt -- which is as perfect as you can get.

I hope HTs sculpts are as good as the Billken for both Joker and Bats.

Do you have pics of the Billken sculpt as opposed to the refined one?

I don't have any pics myself, but I remember seeing the version with the switch out head that just didn't look good. There might be one in the original Soveriegn Sudios thread.

You've never seen the Billiken model kits? Oh man... let me see...

Crap paint job above. Can't find any good pics on Google. Problem is the paintwork usually.

There were two versions of Batman and a great Nicholson. This goes way back to 1992.

One more time in case I decide to put it on ebay, here's my Sovereign Bats with the early sculpt:

I'm not selling it until I see what Hot Toys comes up with. Even if I take a huge loss, I've already enjoyed this figure a lot anyway. It's one of the figures that people admire the most when they are looking at my shelves and I can't stop looking at it when I'm browsing my collection. But I'm pretty sure Hot Toys will blow us away with their Keaton Bats!

Commtech, if HT can only match yours, I'd be very happy. Your Sov Bats has always impressed me.

THAT is the old version using the Billiken sculpt which you can see is superior to later versions. It's also a great picture showing that the ol' Sov Bats were damn impressive figures considering these go back tp 2003. Can you imagine this figure viewed back then?

I've only seen one other early SS Bats that looks as good as Comm's. The guy had made a custom, 8 panel cape for it and it looked awesome.

wow, that early sovereign head is so much better. he was always insistent that the later versions were improvments, but they just seemed to get less and less lifelike. the one i have seems like a real caricature, although the shape of the cowl is pretty nice.
