My guess is it stems from union issues holding up the movies getting going early on.

This film I believe will be more serious in tone than the first film was. It will still be light in nature but in the book it gets darker/serious starting with this section.

I hear ya. This is my most anticipated movie of the year. I can't say that yet. Part 3 will have the battle of five armies and probably the death of Smaug. We've still got a lot of fun ahead of us either way.

I have a feeling PJ is going to be very successful in having the mirkwood spider scenes make my skin crawl.

He nailed the creepy spider vibe with Shelob. Every time Shelob slowly emerges from that little crevice, legs first, to stalk Frodo, I get the heeby jeebies!

Now this is what I'm talking about

God I love that poster, it will look great alongside the AUJ one of Bilbo stepping out of Bag End and maybe There and Back Again could have a poster of Bilbo getting back to Bag End to sort of book end the three films.

The snow on the ground around Erebor adds more credence to the idea of the BOFA taking place in the snow to.
