First trailer's CGI never looks good.

the Elves on the trees looked kind of awful.....:monkey3
I am really excited for this... But a little scared. The CGI doesn't look too good.
Agreed. The CGI looked terrible. But the movie doesn't come out for what? Another half of a year? I'm sure it'll be improved by then.

I think it's pretty obvious that the CGI isn't 100% finished. There's a few scenes that look rough, sure, but there's others that look quite good. release date is HALF A YEAR from tomorrow.

she is going to be so hot....

....

Still can't believe she's in these movies. It's a travesty. Ah well.

I agree with most of spindrift's critique, only I didn't like the first movie.

Why is it a travesty to have her?

Lurtz wasn't in the LotR books either.

As for the movement of the elves, they don't move like humans so you can't look at it that way. Look at how Legolas killed the elephant in LotR. Same thing. And it didn't look humanly natural.

I'm really excited for the last 2 chapters of this story. I loved An Unexpected Journey and as a big fan of the book I'm sure I will enjoy this also.

The only thing I wish that PJ did differently, is to use make-up and prosthetics for the monsters. There's just too much CGi in AUJ, and judging by the trailer, nothings changed.

I thought the dialogue was cheesy and the acting from Tauriel and Legolas poor.

And too many gravity-defying jumping and leaping.

I hate that "kinetic weightless jumping in between things and gyrating and twisting throgh thin air and landing OK " kind of action...PJ just did that over and over again in AUJ....yes fancy GGI filmmaking for the sake of it

Hopefully that's the case. But AUJ had some pretty bad looking effects in the finished product.

Yes it did.....so count on more bad CGI in this one..odd because Weta Digital has been doing some stunning work in other movies lately..

I thought they were just fine to be honest.

I did see a few too many jumps though.

As far as the cgi in AUJ. There were a couple moments but as a whole it looked good to me.

i thought the AUJ 3D experience was fantastic. it's spoiled me so now i check if every movie is in 3D first. from the trailer, it looks like DOS has kicked up the action a notch. AWESOME!!!
