Co-producing Halo I think. But apart from the Lovely Bones, which by the sounds of it won't take too long to complete, he hasn't actually started work on anything else. I say delay everything and focus 100% on the Hobbit!

Okay - so PJ picks up $40 million as executive producer for these two films. Now how much more if he is the actual line producer?
How much more if he is the actual director?
How much more will his subsidiaries like WETA make if they handle all the special effects?
How much more equipment and state ofthe art machinery can Jackson buy for these films but in trun help to build his dream studio in Wellington?

Supposedly he made $150 mil off the first three. That could be just the starting point here. How many directors get a chance at hitting that lottery twice in their careers? Heck, most do not even get a single spin at that wheel.

The possibilities for mammoth riches are just too great by going in all the way and doing the same thing on these films that he did with LOTR. I noticed that the chairman of MGM said there was a good possibility that Jackson would direct the second film. That is promising.

if what you are saying is PJ is gonna do the hobbit just for the possible money, then I'll pass and just watch it on DVD.

He'd be crazy to not factor in the money issue. This isn't some altruistic charity here. It's his career. He deserves to be compensated for the work he does on the films.

My guess is that, aside from whatever salary he draws from his work, he'll also get a pretty hefty percentage of the gross ticket sales. So, it really doesn't matter that much (financially) whether he directs or not.

Halo's been cancelled at the moment.

I'd rather se him doing the Hobbit than Tin Tin could never see the appeal of that and Asterix which was kind of similar format. Which i believe are really big in mainland Europe. Not surprised the Jackson and Speilberg and making it as when i was at school the big time nerds spent there lunch in the libary reading them.

I think it's time to remake Howard the Duck, using a digital Duck.

Admit it, without a midget in a duck costume, that concept would RAWK. :D

Comparing Lucas' merchandising revenue from Star Wars to Jackson's take from Weta would be like comparing the income of average cab driver in New York to Donald Trump. And that's not meant as a slam on Jackson. It's just that EVERY dollar spent on a Star Wars product means a cut goes to Lucas, no matter who the manufacturer is or what type of product it is. Jackson will see some income from Weta collectibles, but those will only be a small percentage of the overall LOTR/Hobbit merchandise, most of which won't generate any income for him at all.

Thanks for the education Dad!!
