$150.00 for a 12" doll is not a priority with me. If the trend of higher pricing on 12" figures continues, I've got other hobbies that would benefit from the shift in funds.
I think that's more of a Medicom thing than a 12 inch figure thing.

$150 is alot for a 12" figure but $1500 isnt alot for a LOTR Balrog statue? Come on now let's get realistic here.

im sorry but $150 is chump change when you compare it to so many other things in the collectible world.

But $180 is too much for three Rebel figures?

I guess it's all in the eye of the collector. :)

Youre right it is in the eye of the collector. i just find it strange that most of this thread is about the price being too expensive. Yet people have no qualms about dropping over a grand on a statue which is only a few more inches in height!

My complaint of the rebel troopers isnt the price, the price is not a problem. rather, its the fact that none of the 3 do anything for me, they are meaningless in my eyes.

$150 is a lot for a new 1/6 figure that isn't that limited. My most expensive figure, 1/6 Jack Torrance from the Shining (thanks Bonehead15) cost more... but only 80 were made. Who knows how many of these Clone Troopers were made? I think for the Medi quality $100 would have been a much more reasonable price... but still a pass for me.

It's not a matter of it being limited or not. The fact is that it is a Japanese product. If you know anything about the Japanese market, you would know that basically everything worth owning is "expensive" that is just a fact. Look at Sony for example. Do they always have the best products? No. BUt they charge a damn premium because of the name and because its a Japan based company.

and you think it's expensive from Sideshow? This thing retails for damn well near $180 in Japan.

Trust me Nash... I have a lot of Japanese import figures... probably around 200 and I've been to Japan.:D I'm well aware of what they cost. However, when you compare Medicom releases to other companies figures (Sideshow, Hot Toys, Takara, DiD) they always come out a bit on the high side. And a basic clone at $150 is a prime example.

Now if they were the sole owner of 1/6 SW rights it might be different. But, Sideshow will also make a Clone and when they do it'll be at least $60 cheaper.

yeah i just saw your collection before you posted this. cool variety of stuff.

Why are you bothered by the price then? You should be used to it by now! :lol

Well, Takara is another Japan company and they are right up there with Medicom pretty much. My damn batman cost me about $155 and catwoman about $120. Granted they came with a lot of accesories but still.

Man, even a damn breakfast in Japan is going to set you back atleast $10 bucks. nothing is cheap there....

Oh yeah, and tell me Attakus isnt overpriced! those are just riddiculous and they dont even have a SW license.

I do agree that imports are generally expensive... but it just becomes whats a good deal. To me (and I know its just opinion :lol ) $150 is high for this particular figure... compared to other comparable import figures. I'm used to prices being high, but the Sideshow offered price difference between him and say afigure like Hot Toys Hicks or Medicom Spiderman seems to not be worth it.

But maybe this will be a Medicom figure that keeps increasing in price (like the Tak Bats)... but I also wonder if he'll be available off eBay for $100 shipped like the Stormie was for a time.

Yeah, i guess time will tell. That would be nice to get it cheaper though, no doubt.

Spiderman is such a great figure, but very simplistic one.

I think he appears simplistic... but there's a lot of work involved. Got the extra muscle additions, the swappable heads, 4 pairs of hands and the webs. Just a lot of cool possibilities with that one.

I hear where you're coming from, but you did make price an issue. You said $180 for a bunch of nobodies was too much money. I'm just saying if you don't want people to complain about you spending $150 on one figure you like, why say something about the price for another figure just because you don't like it?

I passed because I hate Clone Troopers and overpriced ones such as this figure even more so. The only Medicom SW figure I'm tempted by is Boba Fett but even that wouldn't be worth $150,especially with the Sideshow PF on it's way.

Kind of my thought. I mean I bought the RAH Clone but for $30 bucks more I'm getting two other figures from SS. Don't know about you but that seems like a lot better deal to me.

That's because they're not IMPORTED. It's like domestic beer and imported beer. The domestic stuff is cheap but it doesn't taste as good as the expensive imported stuff.

I bought the Medicom Luke and Vader but I don't think I can agree to pay $150 for this clone.

I would absolutely love to have him, but I can't justify that price for a figure with a black body suit and some white plastic pieces on it.

Vader at least had lots of detailing and cloth work. Maybe I'm wrong but from the pictures it just looks...cheap. Other than the great body, the costume almost looks Hasbroish to me. Is the armor soft or hard plastic?

I'm hoping SS's clones will be below $100 and look even better.

Well, I used to live in Japan and even there the figures from local companies like Medicom were still expensive. I think it's just the way things are with Medicom.... The standard price they like to go by... Funny that even there... toys from the US were about the same price as they are here... even though they were imported from the states... :lol

It wouldn't be so bad if it were a more "stocked" figure like Jack Sparrow or Corporal Hicks, but it's pretty expensive for a plain white (no damage at all) Clone Trooper. SO I would have to agree that the price is a major issue with me, the scale is a secondary issue in my eyes.

It all comes down to the individual collector and his budget for the year. I already have too much on order and have to take it easy the rest of the year, including 1st Quarter of 07. So I opted not to get this one and also to not get the 3 man Endor squad. It's a choice every one of us has to make....

I just hate seeing so much arguing over such a simple thing....
