I can relate. Our systems were down yesterday for about two hours. No internet either so I was going stir crazy until it came back up since I had no music or anything to listen to. The IT department stumbles quite a lot here.
Essentially, I am our IT department when it comes to basic computer and printer knowledge. It's frustrating when there is something wrong that can only be fixed by contacting our software vendor. I think they have it that way on purpose to keep contact between us necessary. If I could get into the system like they can then I'd be able to fix the majority of the problems we have.
We have a main guy that sends out emails regarding the City's server system all the time, and it almost seems like a daily occurrence of some issue going on within it, but not directly affecting my department.
Long story short, but my department went to paperless filings and we were told "it will never go down." There's been times it was down for a week straight
What a round about ****** way to get help. And here I complain about getting phone calls for other departments since we have the old phone number for another office and take their calls all day and have to transfer them.
Office talk, really exciting
In IT related news, I have a job interview with Cisco in about an hour. Please send some good vibes my way!
