I don't go as deep as the rest of you with Superman, but I always preferred him as just a standard human character that could still use his mind to **** with Superman. Going beyond that is silly to me.
I prefer genius businessman Lex Luthor. I do like the green armor that he throws on every now and then, but I don't like it to be the norm. It's fine for the one time every couple years he wants to throw down with Superman in a rare fist fight. However, Lex Luthor with an "S" on his chest is ****ing ridiculous.
Right? Superman TAS / JL / JLU Lex Luthor was perfect.

Clancy Brown animated Lex IS Lex Luthor. My favorite of any tv or movie incarnation by a huge margin.
my best knowledge of him. I still can't believe I didn't peg Clancy Brown's voice.
The voice-casting from the Batman and Superman animated shows was perfection. It's a testament to how well they were cast that I STILL think of the animated characters when I hear one of the actors on a different tv show or movie.

I still don't get why we had TWO live action Superman movies after STAS/JLU that still hasn't adapted Clancy Brown's Lex.

I don't either. He is the epitome of what Lex should be. The closest one we've gotten is Lex Luthor Senior in Smallville
I'll probably say something polarizing but I think the cartoons are quintessential DC, even more so than some of the overrated books like Miller's TDKR. Don't get me wrong- I love TDKR, but how many times does it have to be the "gold standard" in these new Batman movies? It was reference to death in Nolan's TDKR and BvS. Enough already.

I absolutely agree that TDKR is overrated. It's an interesting story in which Miller threw Batman fans a bone with him defeating Superman (with a lot of help that included a nuke and Kryptonite), and now those fans have circle ****** themselves over it to the point that Batman is now a super genius that can defeat anyone in the DC Universe.
The DCAU has done a better job with stories and characterization than the TV shows and films without question.
