The only thing making movie Doomsday look more like the comic Doomsday would have really done for me is make it easier to buy a toy or statue of him from the film. It's unfortunate that they wasted the character in BvS because I won't see him on the big screen again in my lifetime. Even if he looked more like comic Doomsday, I would have been disappointed with them cramming him into the film. He looked awful, but my biggest complaint is still that they reduced the Death of Superman storyline to a 20 minute plot device for Batman and the world to finally see Superman as a hero. Then they couldn't even let the fact that Superman died really sink in because they had to immediately hint at his return. I get that they had to make Doomsday fit into their new film universe, so they went the easy way and used Zod's body to create him. However, they could have done quite a bit more with his backstory and showed how much he was a threat if they'd had him in a separate movie mowing down heroes left and right until Superman finally stopped him because he was the only being on the planet that could. In BvS, Wonder Woman cut off Doomsday's arm, so they made it appear that anyone with access to the kryptonite spear would have been able to kill him.
