Anyone get a ROTLA Indy where the leather jacket was stuck to a piece of the hand and now a piece of the jacket is stuck on the hand permanently or any flaking off chips off the jacket?

Boy, did I ever. I'm relieved to know that others had the same problem (I thought it was because I live in a humid climate). It was small to begin with and then I tried to apply leather conditioner (though it's faux) just to soften it up. It literally came apart in my fingers. It was completed ruined on the sleeve. Here's a photo:

I contacted SS and they had to send me a complete body (because the jacket doesn't come off). Now, the replacement jacket is starting to do the same thing! I wouldn't be surprised if the "pleather" on all of these starts (or has already started) to harden and break down. I don't know how SS is going to handle it if it's a universal problem. That's a lot of jackets!

My God...that is terrible that happened. Great, now I guess I am in for it too...and I didn't buy through SSC's as they were long since out of stock. I can't believe there's no one else posting about this as this is one of their best looking figures!!!

On mine, it has affixed a pieced of the interior jacket onto the hand to look like the hand is missing a chip of paint.

Wow, I hope that this won't be a universal problem. I'll have to double check the sleeves on mine. He'll be hard to replace if the jacket starts breaking down.

I had something similar not quite as bad tho, had to paint over it to try to disguise it!

Not feeling good about this at all guys... He was my grail. I came into this game (collecting) late and he was long sold out. Honestly, if the above happens and SSC's won't stand by its product even if I didn't buy directly through them, I'll be done with them. I mean, what's next...my leather on The Rocketeer PF jacket? Is this a humidity/climate issue? My house is in North Carolina. Set at 78 downstairs where they are and they are not in a case. It's not hot. Humidity is normal...47%-58% this time of the year.

The Rocketeer piece came to mind as well. I just bought that one. I pray that this won't happen to his jacket as well. But like you, the more I think about this, the more I'm upset about it. I just moved to Georgia where high humidity and hot weather is the norm. It's things like this coupled with the increasing prices that are driving me to quit collecting. I love the hobby, but I can't afford to spend $300 or more on something that will break down through no fault of my own in just a few short years.

Heck, I haven't even had mine except for 2-3 months... It shouldn't matter where you live. For 300+ they should make it out of materials that aren't going to be so sensitive. Not like I put it outside on my deck in the sun!

I hope more owners of this piece see this thread and weigh in as to if they've experienced this. I saw a thread about paint on busts awhile back flaking off. Now this. It's like...should I hold onto it, hoping it gets no worse or try to sell it and be done with it...

If SSC's answer is they should be in a cabinet, sealed from the air, I'm going to be ticked off as I can't find anything that will really hold a PF. Plenty of choices for 12 inch stuff.

I hate to say it but I'm in South Carolina. Maybe it's a Southern thing? It does suck though. These things aren't cheap.

I would suspect we'd have heard all over the world if humidity or indoor heat was an issue. I mean were we supposed to put these in air tight cases? lol most display on top of shelves. It's making me happier I bought most recently the 100% polystone HCG Rambo.

Well I only have this one and The Rocketeer with faux leather. My ToD Indy wouldn't have the problem. Perhaps the KOTCS one does? I've contacted SSC to see what they say. I'm really ticked off and will likely cancel any pending orders if this doesn't get resolved...

Wow...this news is really unsettling. I have Indy and the Rocketeer as well. I haven't noticed any flaking on my Indy's jacket yet, but I will definitely be keeping an eye out.

EDIT: Did you notice the problem after handling the statue/jacket, or did it just start flaking off spontaneously?

Personally, I noticed a light spot on the sleeve and went to touch it to see what it was. It started to flake off in my hand. It was horrible! Like CollectorNC, this is my grail piece. I hate to think of it going to pot like this.

I need to check my Indy and Rocketeer PFs when I get home...this news really sucks balls.

I may end up canceling some orders as well if this doesn't get sorted out.

I was just looking at mine and adjusting the whip and noticed a mark on the top of the hand looking like a chip that I missed upon inspection. My wife touched the spot and said it was soft matieral like the inside of the jacket was there. To me that sounds like a production defect. Now as to the outside. I have one tiny flake at the bottom of the sleave that fell off when I moved the sleave to look closer at the hand. Nothing rough or anything, very gently. This is ridiculous. It looked fine out of the box 2 months ago. Now this.

Yeah, exactly. And I hope SSC's doesn't say, oh you bought it through someone else so you are screwed. That won't fly with me. I'll cancel my orders and not place any future ones, not to mention make this known unless they offer some sort of explanation and/or replacement, etc. This is too expensive to be doing this.
