Re: The kollection of King Darkness

Legend Directors Cut review time :lol

We had heard of this movie, always been curious to see what it was about but it has always eluded us (wife and I), something else always took its place.

For starters, for whatever odd reason we thought it was an early 90's movie so we were pleasantly surprised when we found out it was a child of the 80's.

What a unique feeling it was watching a genre movie from 25 years ago for the very first time.

We enjoyed it, it felt like a Disney fairytale come to life.

The characters were very odd and otherworldly, I just can't put my finger on it why just yet, maybe because of how they used rhymes for their dialogue.

If anything, they felt a little more mystical than even the creatures from the LOTR.

That Goblin was insane nasty looking, now that's what a goblin should look like.

Another big geek surprise for me was when I saw Rob Bottin's name in the credits, he also worked on The Thing, one of my favorite horror movies.

Another surprise was seeing the freaking preppy girl from Ferris Bueller's Day Off looking all kinds of crazy ass sexy!

That black outfit she wore with the split down middle was breathtaking to say the least, something about her small stature, flat tummy and mini breasts that oozed sexiness from all her pores, as if Disney had started making porno movies!

Her dance scene was so Disney like, a dance of seduction. My wife really liked that part, she was also afraid during that scene :slap

She kept asking me who or what was that closeup they kept showing of the 2 white eyes and glittering fabric, and what was that bubbling stuff, and there was even an odd little creature in his lair...so odd and so cool that it was never explained.

The water goblin creature was also creepy as all hell, that scene reminded me of Evil Dead and Clash of the Titans for some reason, man do I miss real creature designs vs the CGI ones from today.

Which leads to Darkness, hands down one of the most bad ass looking creatures to have ever graced cinema.

I wanted more of him!

It was just an all around magical movie, so very odd and unique that it almost feels like a lost gem.

Definately is a movie we can use to go to sleep with, I don't mean that in a negative way though, it really has that kind of mystical fairy tale vibe going for it that was very relaxing for us.

We buy what we like.

I'm going to go see if it's on Blu-ray, Darkness scenes alone make it worth owning.

Jye, glad you and the wife enjoyed it. I agree about the creature designs, they were phenomenal! And no bull____ CGI. Meg Mucklebones, Blix and Darkness were fantastic, I would love to have premium formats of Blix and Meg. I think they are some of the best character designs ever used on film.

Its the fairytale stuff, I think, that most people hate about the movie. I say they just have ____ty taste.

Now get you a Darkness premium format or GTFO!

Oh, and yes, it is available on Blu :rock

Do you consider to add some threeA to your 1/6 collection ?

I'm really not familiar with any of there stuff :dunno

Jye's stock just went up in my books :duff

Legend (like Highlander) are great movies if you don't have a big stick up your ass :rock

Re: The kollection of King Darkness

Jye's stock plummeted once he quit stats, he thinks the surround sound puts him up a few notches but it's only makes it worse.

Re: The kollection of King Darkness

Dig the new shots of Stalker, Chase! :rock And I agree with what you said about Joe figures coming with glove-less hands. The way you have Stalker set up looks great!

Re: The kollection of King Darkness

I think the PF will be fine around the kiddies, but that 1:1 bust would freak out many adults so children would either have a melt down or grow up to be serial killers if it was in their home :lol

I once showed the PF to my wife because it was on my list of statues to get and she replied "No _______ way, not in our house" :monkey2
