Re: 'The Last of Us' - new IP from Naughty Dog

I'd be very surprised if this did indeed jump to PS4. I don't know how they can make the graphics look any better than they already are.

Look at tomb raider, I thought the same thing.

Not sure about justifying a purchase though.

You've likely waited over six months for a fresh hit of The Last of Us's story - so the last thing I'm going to do, with less than a week to go, is spoil for you what makes Left Behind, a prequel of sorts that explores some of Ellie's backstory, so special. I'll share a few numbers with you, though: Left Behind takes some two hours from beginning to end, and in that time I welled up once, while thinking to myself that Naughty Dog has done it again a couple times more. It's an expansion as brave and thoughtful as the original, retaining the quality of Joel and Ellie's story and enhancing it in subtle, moving ways.

Interesting take on the AI in TLOU. The guy slams it pretty hard and in same cases makes some decent points.
That being said, I can't say I agree with the crux of his argument: that the AI is so bad that it actually takes you out of the game. However, I didn't see the E3 demo footage beforehand and didn't have expectations that weren't met.

I still stand by my statement that this is the greatest game I've ever played.

It is one of the best games ever indeed. The youtube video reviewer misses exactly what makes this game so great. There are some glitches here and there, but this game is not your regular FPS.

Re: 'The Last of Us' - new IP from Naughty Dog

There is no way in hell that video is from Survivor difficulty, the enemies do react when you have a gun and they have a melee weapon or are unarmed, also, they don't have any trouble path finding, and MUCH less do they have a bad sight and they do hide if they're the last enemy, besides if there are many of them they will try to flank you, that video is all sorts of stupid, it's like it was dedicated to make TLOU look bad, it's basically a glitch compilation, you can make any game look bad, I never had a single glitch of any sort and I've played the game about 5 times.

Completely agree with you. I've NEVER seen the AI in the game behave the way it did in his video. NEVER! I'm in the middle of my 7th time playing it. Gonna keep an out and try to pay more attention to it.

But again, I've never seen it behave that way. Especially on survivor mode.

Naughty Dog Contemplating The Last of Us 2
Though ideas for new franchises are also being discussed.
by Luke Karmali FEBRUARY 7, 2014

The Last of Us 2 has been discussed by Naughty Dog, according to the original game's writer and creative director.

Speaking to Eurogamer, Neil Druckmann revealed that the studio is beginning to think where to go next, so has been discussing both sequel ideas and thoughts on starting afresh.

"We just wrapped up Left Behind, and Bruce Straley, the game director, and I have been doing this for over four years now. So it's just time for a break, and to recharge the batteries," he said.

"We have started brainstorming some stuff. To be honest, some of them are sequel ideas, and some of them are brand new IP - we've spent the last few weeks brainstorming new IP. So we have to get some good steps and see... It's kind of like how we approached Left Behind. Can we tell people a story that's really worth telling, and that's not repeating itself? And if we can't, where can we get inspired - what is something that's really going to challenge us, and push storytelling in this medium forward?"

Naughty Dog has two teams that work on projects; while one has just polished off The Last of Us: Left Behind, the other is working on Uncharted 4. There have been mutterings that The Last of Us may be getting a PS4 port with Left Behind thrown in, though Naughty Dog has refused to comment.

"We have such limited resources, and it's a question of where you put the resources," Druckmann said about a possible next-gen port. "It's something where we can have a feel of where the demand is, and where our time is best spent. It's something that we'll figure out as we move forward."

We previously heard rumours that a sequel to The Last of Us was already in development, but it seems that this may not have been true if, as Druckmann says, things are yet to progress beyond the brainstorming stage.

Until we hear anything official, warm yourself up for next week's release of the game's story DLC by reading our hands-on experience with Left Behind.

It's gotta happen.
It must. This IP deserves a sequel.

Re: 'The Last of Us' - new IP from Naughty Dog

Luckily my girl loved TLOU so I'll be doing both of them Friday :lol

Lol lol lol-

Mine loved it too, ever since Bioshock 1, I have never seen her so engaged on a VG (the story) like that.
But she wants her VD games free.

So, wine it is.

I wonder how much that guy makes off of YouTube? I don't understand why he's got the most subscribers. I've seen some of his video's and they aren't bad or anything but #1? I don't get it.
