The Lone Ranger movie

Just saw it. A little bloated and about 20 minutes too long, but I actually really loved it.

As a lifelong Superman fan, if you told me I would enjoy THE LONG RANGER more than MAN OF STEEL, I would've thought you were crazy. Here is a would-be blockbuster with top-notch action (a seamless mix of CGI and stunt-work,) genuine heart, MUCH appreciated humor and cinematography that's infinitely more beautiful and sweeping than anything in MAN OF STEEL.

While not a post-modern, western masterpiece (that would be DJANGO UNCHAINED), or the best reinvention of an old school, pulp icon (that would be THE MASK OF ZORRO,) THE LONE RANGER is a movie that deserves a warmer reception that it's received.

Dr.Mirakle's gotta take a swipe at MAN OF STEEL in every thread.

That said, I'm in agreement that this movie it getting whacked way too hard. But it does have its fair share of issues.
If it were 20 mins or so shorter and the whole movie had the tone of the last action sequence it could've been great.

It all comes down to expectations. Last lear, I jokingly called this BIRTH OF A NATION II, but ultimately found it a satisfying movie. I went to an early MOS screening in full Clark Kent get up, and look where my expectations got me!

But it seems like quality doesn't matter in the industry, so much as dumb luck. But I guess it's always been that way.

I've loved The Lone Ranger since my earliest memories, literally. And while this movie certainly doesn't come close to living up to the old show and serials, it's certainly not a complete aberration. But I purposely went in with the lowest expectations possible.

BTW, when I was a wee lad the first things I was a fan of were:

The Lone Ranger (Clayton Moore)
Superman (George Reeves)
Batman (Adam West)
Six Million Dollar Man
Planet of The Apes
Evil Kenevil

Star Wars, Jaws, Superman (Reeves), and Indiana Jones followed a few years later.

All of these are the things most near and dear to my inner nerd.

Beautifully stated- amazing visuals. The old West...may be a long time we see a western made this epic....so sad. A very underated film

Saw this. Liked it. Didn't care for Silver, the fanged bunnies, or scorpions... But I liked it well enough. I'd watch it again on Netflix one day.

Mayyyyybe the $5 bin at Wal-Mart. That's a compliment to the film. I didn't love it to pay full price but I only buy movies I enjoy even at dirt cheap prices.

Yup. I actually liked all of them, though I'd say Prince of Persia was the least of them.

But history is filled with good movies that don't find an audience. Like I Heart Huckabees.

Okay, I am way late to this party. I saw it with my dad this morning and we both LOVED it!! It was very over the top and ridiculous but what were people expecting? Western is one of my favorite genres and I was totally into the experience from beginning to end. Bummed we will never get a sequel. I don't buy blu-rays as much as I use to but I will buy this one for sure.
