Ok so was Yoda and Obi Wan just lying again to Luke.. I mean "When gone am I the last of the Jedi will you be"

I mean did they every think that there might be more?

I mean we got Ahsoka... And she is saying something about Baby Yoda reaching out to see if some other Jedi will pick him up on the radar..

This would be more inn character to the PT yoda as he never seemed to know what was going on. :lol

But the OT really made it seem like Luke and Leia were the last.

At this point I really dont care... the SW plots are all over the place :lol

This has been a problem with Star Wars right from the beginning.

Lucas wrote himself into a corner because he expected the first film to be the only one: farm boy discovers he has super powers, blows up a space station and wins the war against the evil empire.

When the film turned out to be extremely popular Lucas ditched the plot of Splinter of the Mind's Eye and decided to stretch the first film into a trilogy by creating another Death Star. It made a liar out of Obi-Wan.

At the end of ROTJ there's great cheering that the evil empire is destroyed again.

But no, this is too popular to end. The empire will rise again, and there will be future super weapons, and other Jedi. It made a liar out of Yoda too.

It's best, perhaps, to just assume that Jedi often talk in riddles, or are deliberately vague to keep certain secrets. :lol

I am shocked to see all the hate this episode is getting.....goes to show you how SW fans are vastly different.

Hmmmm is the hate coming from this board?? I didnt look back far enough I guess.

It wasn't my fav. I was hoping for something a little more... Grand?

I loved the last two episodes.. I guess I am just a sucker for all things Empire related.

As someone who consumes almost all SW related media, I find it hard to accept certain opinions of people who have not even bothers to view the YEARS worth of story telling and lore because it was a cartoon.....like somehow the format makes it less powerful and provocative. Rebels and the Clone War simply spell out so many things in the universe that you really cannot consider yourself knowledgeable about what?s going on without seeing them.

I can understand why someone might not want to watch the cartoons.. Some might have trouble allowing themselves to join the two mediums... I struggle with the comics.. They always come across as stroking fan fiction. :lol

I gave TCW a chance and I am glad I did.. Hell I didnt even hate TCW movie :lol But like I said i can see how some might struggle accepting them as true SW.

I gotta start Rebels up again at some point.

The idea of ?personal cannon? has always rubbed me the wrong way. Why not just say your no longer a SW fan and be done with it?
There is so much SW good and bad that its not a bad thing to practice.. I mean I like TCW series but man there were some awful storylines in there.. Best to act like they didn't exist.

Personal head Canon is how many of us have survived through the years :lol

They are obviously going to make strong connections to the ST in Mando since is bridges the two trilogies. If that?s going to ruffle your feathers then I suggest jumping off now.......

Yeah.. As much as there are things I dont like about the PT or ST I dont find either bad enough to completely ignore or freak out about if mentioned in a series / film that I like. To me its a good thing. TCW and TROS both helped me enjoy the PT much more. TROS helped me enjoy TFA much more also.

But SW fans gotta hate....so I think as this show goes on, the criticisms and bashing will only grow.

It is strange. I have been there. I loathed TLJ and too a lesser extent TFA and PT so much I was kinda starting to turn on all of SW. Even with TCW to help save the PT, I was just checking out.

So can understand to some extent.. But again if something helps those stories and redeems them.. Then why not go along with it?

I know TROS is not the best example as its not "strong" story telling but for me it helped redeem TFA and PT and too a much lesser extent TLJ.. Why would I not want something like that??

Aside from that , I LOVED this episode. It was stylistic and drove forward the plot while bringing up many things to speculate.

I thought it was Ok.. Third best of the season for me.

And I disagree about RD's portrayal lacking charisma - I thought she nailed it. After watching TCW and what I've seen of her in Rebels (just finished Season 2 and her battle with DV), that was exactly the mature, self-assured demeanor I expected from her character at this point in her life. And while Mando took a bit of a back seat in this episode, given it's essentially a one-and-done for AT for the time being I don't know how else they could have possibly done justice to a character of her stature without that being the case. Now (similar to our intros to Cobb Vanth and Bo-Katan), Mando & BY continue on with their quest and we're left to speculate if/when their paths may cross again.

I did find her "quiet time" with BY a bit uneven and the samurai aspect of her confrontation with the magistrate was initially somewhat jarring style-wise (sort of the same feeling I had when Kill Bill's Beatrix Kiddo walked into that snowy garden to face O-Ren Ishii). But that feeling passed quite quickly for me, as the duel was nicely choreographed.

I have not gotten to her in Rebels yet.. I was wondering if that is what I might be missing with RD version of her.. She lacked that ***** but I realize it might be because she is older. Loved her look though an I completely bought into this being AT. Her intro was fantastic.. Loved jumping the wall also.. Felt straight out of the cartoon series.. In a good way.

I was not as crazy about the chorography. Lots of more complex moves that the actors had to slow down which took away the feel of complexity :lol Does that make sense?

I am sure she will get better as the series moves on..

Is she really getting a spin off?

What I'm really appreciating about this show is that my favourite character is The Mandalorian. I'm always interested to see how he plays off the other characters. So it was particularly interesting to see him meet a trained Jedi for the first time. Ashoka was great - cool design and well played by Rosario Dawson. Definitely hope we'll see more of her.

Mando himself is still super cool but my appreciation of him is waning a bit this season only because they've made him so damn invincible. He was really fun to root for when a pack of jawas could get the best of him and a hairy rhino beast could really work him over. But now he's basically RoboCop, virtually indestructible and never misses. Freaking Ahsoka herself couldn't even put a scratch in his armor with two lightsabers! Neither could the mighty Krayt Dragon.

So now when someone like Cobb or Lang (Michael Biehn's character) is looking like they're gonna have a quick draw duel with him I can't help but kind of root for the other guy since he's such an underdog. As of now I can't help but feel like Lang is the greater badass because he's the only guy other than Mando who survived a direct attack from Ahsoka in this latest episode except he wasn't wearing indestructible plot I mean Beskar armor. ;)

So hopefully in these final three episodes they really put Mando himself through the paces again.

I just watched Chapter 13 again and man I can't believe how well Ahsoka translated to live action. She looked so cool with her twirling cape and MC Hammer pants! :D They even had her leaping walls, buildings, and running from rooftop to rooftop just like her animated counterpart. Do a flashback of Rosario fighting side by side with Hayden since he still looks the same and I'll probably just call the PT canon for good, lol.

Didn't recognize Biehn at first even though I'd read he was in this one - damned aging. If I'm honest it wasn't as much of a role as I was hoping he'd get....maybe he's not dead?

I'd love for him to be alive but watching it again it did look like they showed the blast going right through his chest and out his back. I think he's a goner. It would have been nice if Filoni had him get a shot off and graze Mando's unarmored neck. Could have been a cool "ooh that was close" moment for Mando especially since Grogu could have just healed him anyway. That would have made the Biehn fan in me cheer a little while de-Mary Suing Mando a little, lol. But it's a small criticism overall for me.

I'm absolutely an advocate of personal canon.

Same. Especially for never-ending stories like what SW is turning out to be that has its own branching canons; original post-ROTJ EU, different cuts of the original films, ST, Disney EU that's actually re-canonizing previously de-canonized canon (lol.) You have to always reserve the right to draw the line somewhere or you'll die from continuity whiplash. :lol

Did you also catch how he had HK-87 assassin droids working with him when they were hunting Ahsoka (OK, when she was hunting them lol)? No doubt a cheeky callback to Terminator's HK Hunter-Killer models. :lol

You know "HK" is such a common sci-fi term now (Matrix, etc.) that it didn't immediately hit me that it was probably most famously popularized by Reese's speech to Sarah about them. Great catch. It was indeed cool to see evil Reese giving battlefield orders to his own loyal endos. :D

Also with regard to Grogu's origin being revealed that he survived Anakin's youngling slaughter in the Temple simultaneously gives his character instant gravitas *and* makes me hate that scene from ROTS less. So bravo on both counts to F & F for that.

I always knew that RD was going to look stunning but they even exceeded my expectations with their sharp design elements.

She instantly became Ahsoka for me even without the giant eyes.

She had great light saber presence.

Yep she carried herself with just enough hardness and softness that was just right for the character.

shotgun

I was hoping MB was in it more though. :gah:

I know right. I'm shocked that he won't be able to be in Robert Rodriguez' episode.

That was Luke Skywalker she was talking about :dunno

Last Jedi that they know of, and probably the last that's willing to take up the fight.

3 years before ANH Ahsoka declares that she isn't a Jedi. She hadn't been a Jedi since she left in TCW.

Fallen Order shows that there was a Jedi that surived and disconnected herself from the force to keep herself safe, it's not a stretch to imagine a few others did that too. Luke even does it by the time of TLJ. At that point, they are no longer "Jedi".

Actually Yaddle dies before the AOTC in 26 BBY, so Ahsoka problably would not have meet her since she was with master Plo-Koon, she was just 10 years old.

Now about a possible retcon for the Sequel Trilogy, its easy, just remake the Rise of Skywalker just like the new "Justice League Snyder Cut", if you change episode 9 you can save the whole narrative mess from the ST.

That's Legends, not canon.

Ok so I thought the episode was OK.. It was nice to see Ahsoka in the real world.

I thought RD really looked the part.. BUT, and I understand that she is older, she lacked the charisma of the animated character.

Even though she looked like Ahsoka I thought she needed a bit more time in the gym to practice the sword play.. The duel was very slow and obvious that not too much time was spent on it..

But boy she looked the part. I am sure with time she will get better with the saber play. Granted I am use to watching Ahsoka moving like a Superhero because of the cartoons :lol :lol

Overall the episode was OK.

I remember liking Thrawn before I quite reading the TZ books halfway through the middle one. So it will be cool to see him on screen.. Wonder if he will have those stupid force sucking lizards.. Hope not. :lol

I wonder if filming during a pandemic impacted their ability to practice/perfect the stunt work and intricate, close-quarter combat. Or was this in the can before COVID? Regardless, RD isn't 22 anymore and neither is Ahsoka's character. And I would argue that they moved at lightning speed compared to most (if not all) of the OT duels. :lol

I was actually thinking/hoping that Lang was going to wing him in the shoulder, as (I believe) that was the beskar armor piece that AT tossed on the ground to trick the magistrate into believing that Mando was dead. It would have instantly made Lang's character a more astute, formidable opponent.

I know right!!!! :rock

:yess:

RDS FREAKING NAILED THE CHARACTER!

That look she gave the Razor Crest as it lifted off at the end was SPOT ON CARTOON AHSOKA. :rock

I thought the same exact thing. Glad someone else noticed!!!!

I thought everything about this episode was epic. RD absolutely nailed Tano as a character. Filoni's best episode by far. Loved the darker Japanese tone. Just fantastic overall.

10 mins in Photoshop instantly improves it imo

[...] The idea of ?personal cannon? has always rubbed me the wrong way. Why not just say your no longer a SW fan and be done with it? [...]

It's all fiction anyway, created by a slew of different authors and authorial teams over the years with different objectives, so I don't find myself obligated to get behind every installment in a franchise spread across time and multimedia.

'Star Wars Fan' isn't something I give a lot of thought to. I like some of it, think some of it is trash. Am I a 'fan'? Am I not? I don't care. :lol

Absolutely. Or they could have had Lang surprise Mando with the fact that he had gone and abducted Grugo for himself.

I can picture a cool scene where Lang opens his pack, shows Baby Yoda, and forces Mando to drop his pistol. Lang smiles and says. "You're right, he does bring luck" and then raises his pistol toward Mando. Mando says "Yes, but not for you" and then "Grogu!" and reaches for his own gun, Grogu makes it fly back to Mando's outstretched hand and *then* he beats Lang to the trigger. That would have tied in the Mando/Lang luck conversation, Grogu's training, and his the revelation of his name all in the same moment.

Ah well, we probably saw the limits of Filoni but it was a killer episode nonetheless.
