some of Kotobukiya's 1:7 statues are actually 1:6 (most of their clones outside of Cody are 1:6, and with Cody it is mainly the helmet that is undersized, comparing his body to HT Cody they are about the same scale) but when it comes to animated style ones I do not have experience so they may well be true 1:7

I like the Hot Toys takes on characters from TCW. Makes more sense that they blend in with other characters from the Star Wars universe instead of being animated. I can see why some would prefer the animated looks though.
I wish it was the animated version just so I wouldn't feel compelled to buy a character I have no emotional connection to. This guy looks awesome

Sideshow made animated Cad Bane, seems like a forgone conclusion that a Savage/Maul would happen. No?

Problem is nobody wants Sideshows garbage figures.
I actually got the Cad Bane recently and he mixes in pretty well with the HT Clone Wars stuff. I used a coupon code to get it down in price a little but it's still $100 high for what you get. I think he might be the only character whose animated look fits in with the more realistic look of the HT figures...

I love it but maybe it's just me: Does the portrait lean more to a caricature vs realistic sculpt? The furrowed exaggerated brow makes me think it will clash with the more realistic facial proportions on Maul.

been saying so since the beginning. somehow folk can't seem to see how cartoony the head is

I've definitely seen it since it was originally shown, it's just not enough to keep me from getting the figure and displaying with my other Clone Wars figures. I did the same with the Sideshow Cad Bane and it blends in pretty well. Admittedly, I think even though Cad is stylized in the cartoon look, he looks less "cartoony" than this Savage figure...

The only reason I want it is because it’s cartoony enough to fit in with the SS Clone Wars figures.
That is cool, it just annoys me that HT can't pick a lane and stay in it. Go fully realistic or fully animated. The weird blend means it will never be the perfect representation of either.

Will be interesting to see how Ventress turns out if we ever get around to her.
Ideally I just want animation accurate figures.
Based on the Arcane figures, HT could have absolutely smashed it with TCW but chose to match them to live action stuff.

Don’t see much of a cartoon/animated look to the head myself, but each their own.

Though I do wish they took more of an inspiration from the SS 1/4 PF from a decade ago.

It's hard to tell without seeing it in person, but I think it's the brow tattoo that is giving it a more cartoony look in photos than what might actually be present. It looks to have swooping, emotive lines like you might see in the drawing of a Disney character. And it also gives the impression of a sharp edge between the eyebrow/brow bone area and the eyelid area. but if you zoom in on the head, it looks like the sculpted forms are actually softer than the tattoos would have you believe.
The general proportions do seems slightly more stylized than realistic, but I don't think it's quite as extreme as it might appear. But who knows; it's difficult to visualize without the paint apps
