*reads spoilers* Great, more of one of my least-favorite characters. Neato. This person gets more air time than fricking Bo-Katan does.

It sounds like less of a Galaxy's Edge commercial though, I'll say that.

Mando teaches Grogu about fuel.
Mando goes to visit Bo Katan.
Mando goes to Tatooine.
Mando goes to Mandalore in the exact same system as where Bo Katan lives.
Mando lectures Grogu on the importance of reading maps.

Descending in the spaceship, Mando comments that they will be cut off from the Galaxy down there.
Once again, as Mando surveys the ruins, he comments they are truly alone.
Mando gets in trouble and immediately tells the baby to fly off-planet and get help.

The writing for all of this has been so disconnected I would have guessed it was written by ChatGPT if it had been written more recently. I am going to pretend all the ******** prior to Bo Katan landing on Mandalore doesn’t exist.

Well, I enjoyed the episode overall, it was stronger than the first. It seemed to be leaning into an Edgar Rice Burroughs fantasy vibe. Now that Din's softening up and officially Grogu's dad we get a lot of exposition dump via talking to the kid; they went a bit far with it with Bo but whatever.

The script is still very much aimed at children in terms of dialogue.

In that vein, Bo Katan's sarcasm very much comes off like a "so-cynical" teenage girl, which to be fair was often Starbuck's vibe in BSG so maybe it's also how she delivers the lines, I don't know.

It's interesting how they portray Din over the course of the series. There are times he's a stone cold ninja, the rest of the time kind of an improvisational brawler who gets his ass beat a fair bit. Not much in-between, although he wasn't ready for the vampiric love child of General Grievous and the Lost In Space (reboot) alien Robot.

There was a time he took Grogu into dangerous places because he had no choice, I guess he does so now because he's training him in The Way but I still think someone needs to call Space Child Protection Services on him.
  • I find R5D4's inclusion wildly unnecessary but hey 'memba him?
  • Someone needs to feed Pelli a blaster bolt.
Bo Katan's fight scenes were a pleasure to watch, she appears faster, more agile and possibly more skilled than Din, but she did miss every single shot fighting the Techno Vampire and ate some electro-shock for no good reason.

I don't get why the Elder God aka Mythosaur would drag Din under and then just leave him there. Dude never does well in water; I guess he didn't buy that skill.

It's obvious Crazy Stoic True Believer Din is starting to crack through Teen Bo's Cynical Armour.

I continue to enjoy the series and love the bond between Din and Grogu. Katie is awesome as Bo and I like where this is heading. The one thing that I think is absolutely jumping off the page at me is that the big battle finale will have Din riding the mythosaur ala Fett and the Rancor. As ridiculously predictable as that is, I'm all in for it!

You think it'll be Din? Every that happened in this episode made me 100% confident it'll be Bo.

They clearly showed the difference between how Din and Bo handled the Darksaber. The entire episode pretty much focused on Bo's reignitement of her Mando pride. She got a lot of lingering shots. And even technically re-bathed in the waters herself and made eye contact with the Mythosaur. Outside of Din finally bathing in the living waters, he felt second fiddle to Bo in this episode.

Din is out of his depth, always has been, the show tells us this time and time again.

I have to agree. Three seasons in and this guy is just such an amatuer for someone who was supposedly the "Best in the parsec."
Best showcase of this was in The Heiress, Bo-Katan and crew are wiping the floor of that Imperial Cargo Ship with machine-like proficiency and he's following them around like a lost puppy. Shows the difference between a bounty hunter and a soldier/warrior.

That scene where Din runs with the thermal detonators is one of the goofiest images forever stuck in my brain:lol

Bo Katan ruled this episode.

Yep.
And I refuse to jump on the woman-director-what-do-you-expect train....

(Director: Rachel Morrison, a newcomer to the Mando-verse who had a hand in some of your favorite movies of the past decade or so: Fruitvale Station, Mudbound, Dope, and Black Panther. (For Mudbound, she nabbed an Academy Award nomination for Best Cinematography.); from 'https://www.esquire.com/entertainment/tv/a43236901/the-mandalorian-season-3-episode-2-recap/

For me, lots to appreciate. Aesthetics - very cool, esp. the green glass look of the glass. Lighting, cinematography (that's how you do dark spaces, enough light sources to make it interesting). Someone put their back into it:clap. Liked Bo-katan and Din just - interacting. More so than in other shows when they are just getting to business. It's the first strong sense I had of these two as individuals with their own experiences and world view forming, maybe, a tentative friendship. Good dialogue, nothing cringe. The bio-robot thing was something really new - reminded me of the Thing with the detachable head crawling around - creepy!:yess: It's also interesting that Din is still having trouble wielding the Darksaber, but Bo-Katan is able to use it with ease - something I hope the show comes back to. Bo-katan using Rebels fighting defenses live action.:yess:

For me, where it fell off is, while it showcased Bo-Katan as a badass, 1) Grogu wouldn't have been afraid where his daddy was concerned - not even sure why that hesitation was put in WTF:pfft:; and 2) WTF Din didn't seem to bother using the badassery available - yeah, I get it, he was caged up, but I'd have thought he'd be fighting harder, in at least 2 different places, even with body fluids sucked out towards the end (and why didn't Grogu do some healing hands, then?) U shouldn't build a character up based at the expense of others. Like when Vanth and D'jarin, Boba and D'jarin, Dune and D'jarin are working together - there's none of this one-up-manship. I get it, but it lacked BALANCE.:banghead

Dunno why Bo needed to be built up to that degree:huh; anyone who watched the previous seasons and/or Rebels knows her abilities.

Still, appreciated some fine detail touches and LOGIC. Like carefully making sure the air was breathable or protection was in place, 'coz some of the hilarity about movies like Covenant is nobody behaves like an actual scientist and just yanks their helmets off, or pets unknown critters:slap, etc. I completely appreciate that lack of stupidity :yess: ; drives me nuts when characters just ASSUME a planet is safe.

Explaining about the moons. Points made lead from A to B, most of the time. And it's really interesting Din now owes his life to Bo-Katan, who supposedly has to fight him to get the Darksaber.

Overall, crammed with good stuff with some WTF illogic for me. Remain happy.😁

If Bo used the dark saber…did that mean anything to the law of the Mandalore
Don’t think so but who knows, they seem to change to rules constantly. Din is currently in possession of it. No reason she can’t pick it up and use it but it’s not currently hers to take the throne of Mandalore.

But Sabine gave it to Bo. I don’t really understand why Din couldn’t do the same. Maybe because he’s not in the same clan.
