What's the difference?
Yeah it's not like him being a clone or not a clone has any bearing on whether he can return or not. His body was missing after the explosion so if they want to just say he survived then they can. If they want to say there were any other number of surviving clones they can do that to. He only told Mando that the Force-sensitive clones were destroyed (not that I necessary believe that either) but they could easily say a previous generation clone without the Force is still running around somewhere.

None of it is any more or less silly than any other option, I'm just glad that for this episode they're at least allowing for the viewer to assume he's permanently gone if that's what they want.

I do hate Lucas's "poetry" repetition...
That's one reason I like the Hoth, Scariff, and now Mandalore battles so much. They don't just repeat the end of ANH like ROTJ, TPM, and TFA. This finale in particular has absolutely no equivalent anywhere else in SW, even though it still "feels" completely SW.

Hopefully Thrawn gives Disney what it desperately needs -- a good villain!

They got Grogu... to replace Yoda and R2. Now they need a great villain to replace Vader for a new generation (the hive-mind generation).

See I think they've already achieved that with Gideon. His tactics and abilities were totally sound, he'd won! It was just a fluke Star Destroyer falling out of the sky that he never could have anticipated that did him in.

Gideon was good, like Krennic was good, and Tarkin was good... but he ain't Vader great.

Thrawn has the possibility to be truly great. A larger than life villain who doesn't look like a bureaucrat or an actor who didn't want to cut his hair. He has a deep legacy. I don't personally like the time-travel BS but whatever. Wake me when they get to Xizor. In the meantime, Thrawn could be awesome.

I think once he put the helmet on he became great, maybe not Vader great but still great. That said I see what you mean. Hopefully Thrawn ups the ante even more. Somebody's got to go out in a blaze of glory against the Mythosaur, lol.

Thrawn is at least original. Not Sith, or black-clad helmet, etc.

Gideon with helmet on becomes Vader-lite... or Dark Fett. It's been done. Better. But a white uniformed, blue-faced, red-eyed villain is something new. I'm curious how they play him. The actor they chose has an unusual face which I think is great. I hope he has a good voice and demeanor to go with it.

Our first "happily ever after" moment in SW since the Ewok Celebration, let's enjoy it while it lasts.

I really hope they don't. Only Grogu's use of the Force saved Mando and Bo-Katan, but Gideon's suit was somehow that much better than theirs that he could survive? Like you say, that would just be silly. Let's stick a fork in Gideon and move on to the next bad guy.

Agreed. It was a good death in epic and satisfying fashion. And as Wor-Gar has been saying it's not like they need to bring him back with a heavy hitter like Thrawn waiting in the wings.

Other than the cutting back and forth during the final missions like in ROTJ, TPM and TFA it is definitely an awesome first in live action SW to have aeriel combat like that.

I almost wish they added an additional 10 minutes to the battle and released ep 7 and 8 in Imax I would so go!

That needs to be experienced in the cinema.

Yes the cutting back and forth was one of the reasons it still felt very Star Wars without having to go the extra mile and make every element "rhyme" with what came before. Honestly this finale may be the strongest EVER (since ESB anyway) as far as having every scene they cut to being just as exciting as all the rest. No lulls in the battle while they cut to ewoks, gungans, Jyn and Cassian climbing around, etc.

Thrawn this year.

You just know if that resurrection goes well, they will bring Xizor into live-action by 2025.

Ah, Prince Xizor. The 90s certainly were a different time. Somehow I don't think a big lizard-man that turns red when he's horny and emits horny pheromones in order to bed women of all different species would fly today.

"Come on baby....sure is warm in here....take your clothes off and come sit on my leathery lizard-man lap."

Who wrote this? I don't believe Timothy Zahn was involved.
