I can't believe I just watched the SW version of one of my favorite John Woo movies.

Very good episode. Lets hope this show stays cool.

It may protect from sunburn, but this stormie survived the battle of Scarif by effortlessly dodging the laser blasts and punches and running really fast to the last transport before the DS fired... all without all that heavy useless armor.:dunno

The popularity of The Mandalorian might be a problem for The Rise of Skywalker, Mandalorian is setting the bar quite high... Unless Abrams can pull a rabbit out of his hat things might not be looking to good for Abrams.

We've already gotten what, 90 minutes of great new SW out of this show? Unbelievable.

And what's funny is this new episode kind of played like a Legend of Zelda video game, lol. Walk through the outdoor maze, complete the quest, level up. Go down to the cave and get a new weapon. Imperial Stormtroopers in one building, bounty hunters in another, Mandalorians in another and *all of them seemingly completely oblivious to each other* existing solely to interact with the player character (Mando) and no one else. And I freaking love it. :lol

Sure it's a SW video game adventure brought to life and to that I say hell yeah, lol.

If you embrace the inherent silliness with the show's structure and just let your inner fan go crazy then this show is a freaking dream come true.

What's crazy is that like TFA being a pale reflection of ANH this show *should* feel like a poor man's Empire. You've got the three main "new" ESB characters all represented; Boba Fett, Yoda, and Lando. And while Mando, Little Guy and Carl Weathers *should* feel like uninspired copies they're actually every bit as cool as their predecessors! I can't believe I'm saying this but after 40 years of being top bounty hunter I might put Mando above Fett! :panic: :thud:

I love that I'm finally also seeing the PT through the lense of the OT. I actually want a Super Battle Droid! :rock

All the bounty hunters' beepers going off "John Wick 2" style? Hell yeah.

"Republic Commando" heavy gunners? Hell yeah.

And holy crap yes jye the flaming ST. After 40+ years of various Troopers, ROTJ Fett, Palpatine, etc., letting out Wilhelms and/or screaming in terror we literally just witnessed one screaming in *agony.* :horror: That was insane.

I noticed that one of the hunters in the bar had headgear like some of the scavengers on Jakku.

This one single episode just hit a homerun with like four separate eras of SW, lol.

Episode 3 was a blast! I noticed that was D. Chow who directed it too. If it’s any indication what the Kenobi series will be like then sign me up.

Another awesome episode. This show is an absolute home run in every conceivable way. And yeah the fact that this episodes director is doing the Obi-Wan series pretty much confirms to me that the future of Star Wars is on tv. Also I don’t know about anyone else, but I’ll buy pretty much everything Hot Toys puts out from this series. The heavy armoured mando with the rail gun being top of the list.

Deborah Chow did a great job directing this episode and this coming from someone accused of being a sexist because I didn't like Kennedy Girl Power TLJ...

Then really need to replace Kennedy with Jon Favreau, he gets Star Wars...

How The F#%! do you end the Skywalker story by making it all about new characters... It makes no sense... All Abrams, Kennedy, and Johnson did was reboot the original trilogy with a female protagnoist.

Luke starts out on a desert planet and finds droids the empire is hunting, they get on the falcon and leave, they end up having to blow up a death star.

Rey starts out on a desert planet, she finds a droid the first order is hunting, she gets on the falcon and leaves, they end up having to blow up a death planet

Abrams is a hack...

I’m beginning to think Star Wars can live on the little screen for a while too. I’ll probably be in for almost anything 1/6 from the Mandalorian.

Yup. So mind blowing that they can knock this series out of the park, and yet royally screw the films beyond belief?

Back to the basics, I suppose... just good old fashioned story telling without "subverting expectations" and whatever agenda driven garbage they were trying to push.

This show proves how large the established "universe" is, and all the amazing stories that can be had, when in the hands of the right people.

Agree 100%. I personally don't care where it comes from as long as it's enjoyable, and not tarnishing the brand anymore than they already have.

SW is a joke (and disappointment) among my son and his group of friends (10-13 years old). Pisses me off, that even at their age, they think the brand is just trash.

Congratulations Rian... I hope you achieved what you set out to do.

I think “in the hands of the right people” is the key. Mando is a direct product of those who really love and understand the franchise and respect those who have been fans of it over the decades.
