welcome to apple :rotfl

No, it's welcome to the new world of technology and the ever expanding capitalism mindset of the competitive techo world. Perhaps the above poster should have committed to circles who are in the know. There are sites that let you know when a newer revised version is coming. Even letting you know when it's the right or bad time to purchase the current model. I can't remember the site, but I used to use it as a reference when I purchased my latest 17" Mac Book Pro.

Point is, this is the day we live in. Technology moves along fast. It's not just Apple. It's Samsung, or any other Android device. It's PCs. It's even Televisions, and other multimedia devices. Things come with pre obsolescence as well. Meaning they are designed to break down right away so they can get your business again, sooner rather than later. Any smart consumer should know this or at least be aware of it. This is the world we live in. Yesteryear technology where stuff like tube TVs would last 20-plus years are a thing of the past unfortunately.

LOL, it's hilarious how often apple craps on their loyal customers, and all of them continue to serve themselves up a heaping bowl of it.

I'll be happy with my Ipad 2 for a while I think...

Absolutely. If you were new to the market, you'd grab the latest model I guess.. but I see absolutely no reason to upgrade from my 2.

Really don't quite understand the mini... I guess Apple must've felt competition from the galaxy note or some such??!!

For mine, the beauty of the iPad is as an A4-ish sized reader and viewer.. fantastic for reading comics & books, watching movies, catching up on TV, social networking, some types of games and of course surfing the web.
All of these things are better on an iPad than an iPhone due to screen size.. so I don't know why anyone would grab a mini.
That said, perhaps people want it for different reasons to me. hahahaha.

The iPad 2 is still the smoothest, fastest performing iPad out. The iPad 3's performance is hobbled by the increase in resolution, and the hastened announcement of the iPad 4 is obviously to fix that.

Sorry, iPad 3 owners.

No desire for small tablets, so no thanks on the mini, Apple.

Oh Nash, get off of it. Seriously. I am not thrilled with it or defending it, but I am a realist when it comes to the capitalist nature of these companies. Do you honestly think I like spending money on things that are obsolete the minute you take them out of the package?

It is what it is.

If something still does what you want it to, it's not obsolete. :dunno

I would take the Fire or Nexus over the mini.

Nobody whines about obsolesence when car companies bring out new models or model upgrades every year. They just figure they'll get a new one when they can afford it or need it or want it. People who buy into their tech stuff being somehow really useful one day but obsolete the next...lol.

ill requote myself when they come out with the iPhone "mini"

Not quite sure what the point is of the ipad mini if it's only $160 cheaper. If it were $250 I could see it. But not at $329. You can find a used ipad 2 for that easy now. Prob a 3 when the 4 is released. They act like the ipad is too big and it needed a smaller version. Sales for this will bomb. Loving the new imacs though.

I own both and my three runs much better than my two.

Yeah I don't understand where his post came from?

We have both as well. That said I love my "3" and see no reason to upgrade this year. I would like the iPhone 5 but that's not in the budget either. My iMac is going on 4 years old and is due for an upgrade but I hardly use it. It still works great. When I say "due" it means I wants! :lol

After yesterday's anouncment I purchased an iPad for my wife. I had been holding off to see if the mini would be worth consideration. I decided it was not. It's ~75 dollars overpriced for what it is. I decided the 16gig was a better value and had a better screen. I feel a bit silly for waiting.

I have the Samsung 7" tablet and love the size. No cellular on it and not as user friendly as Apple. I've been wanting a smaller sized IPad for a while now so I'll be getting the mini. While I don't like the price, it's Apple, so I didn't expect it to be cheap.
