Ah so its a mouse. Yeah I can kinda see why people are a bit upset at you using one. With a mouse, you can aim more accurately and faster as opposed to a thumb controller.

I'm not too fond of the mouse/keyboard for FPS...For games like warcraft yes, but not my FPS. I want everything all in one tight little package, and my PS3 and 360 controllers deliver that feeling. To offer a controller that is more accurate and quicker than the regular controller that is default for the system is a bit unfair. You cannot truly test ones skill unless all players playing are using the same equipment.

Same can be said for other things such as TV size and if running in HD or not, and sound, if someone has 5.1 surround sound cranked up to 40 and running 1080p on an HDTV they have an advantage over someone running on a lil' tube television with the volume at a lower level.

But nothing makes up for skill and practice. It's just the same as people who get in betas pwn people for awhile when a game first comes out because they are already use to the controls and know the level layouts when new players are just getting into it.

There's never a level playing field...not in such an uncontrollable environment.

i agree with the controller bit, but the tv and surround i don't. not everyone can or is willing to purchase a big tv or expensive sound system. however, i'm thinking about buying one of the 360 controllers that was gutted and fitted with the PS3 internals because it feels a lot better to me.

While a larger TV and sound system do offer an advantage, it's a very slight one IMO. People running on a smaller screen are used to that size, so they've adapted. I remember when I moved my 360 from a 19" widescreen computer monitor to a 37" 720p HDTV...I was overwhelmed and my game suffered until I re-adjusted.

However, using a controller that is the equivalent of moving a mouse pointer on the screen...that does heavily skew the playing field IMO. But that's the fault of the designers for allowing such an unbalanced advantage. They could easily make the game incompatible with such controllers to keep things more fair. In that way, you can't really fault the players for taking advantage of a legal way to play the game.
