Alright folks, here's my review on PZ.
I can't imagine a zombie fan being happier when they receive this piece. Sideshow captured the shamble of 'the dead' perfectly with this pose! Everything is just right: twist of the head, angle of the neck, height of the arm, drag of the foot... just outstanding overall. A "tip of the hat" to the sculptor(s) on this piece!
The paintwork: Overall they did an outstanding job. I've seen comments about the blood not being gory enough, and that was my first inclination as well. But really it's probably just right, as this isn't blood 'pouring out'. It's more likely oozing out, all puss like, and therefore is diluted to a certain extent with other bodily fluids. However, I was pretty disappointed with the paint differences between the arms and hands, on both sides, right and left. The right arm was WAAAY too light, as can be seen in most of the photos in this thread. The weird part was that the left arm was extremely dark, and the hand was much lighter/pinker. It was pretty obvious that both hands were painted as a 'batch', completely separate from the bodies, and then glued on(for the left arm) and thrown in the box(for the right arm -exclusives).
I really didn't like that, so I went ahead and color matched the arms and hands. I also gave the torso a very subtle transparent touch of warmth. I'm giving Sideshow a 'wag of the finger' on the mismatched hands.
Packaging: I'll be the first to say I hate the styrofoam they used for this. It's that crumbly, generic cut styro. But, they did do a great job packaging the piece. Each piece was wrapped in tissue, and then inserted inside a plastic bag/pouch. There shouldn't be any 'shipping' damage to this one.
So, overall, this piece exceeds my expectations. If you are even thinking of jumping in to the dead line, and you feel the exclusive is a must, then I would strongly suggest finding a boardie with one to sell. I can easily see this one blowing up when the second piece debuts.
Enjoy the photos!
