Re: Premium Format Rocketeer

I just saw the movie yesterday for the first time since it originally came out on...VHS!!! :lol
That made me really want either this PF or the Medicom figure but I'm leaning towards the PF if I can get the funds for it

Did you watch it on SiFi? I hadn't watched it for a couple years, so I sat and watched the whole thing. It was a real treat seeing it in HD since they haven't released the Bluray yet :(

I have the PF and Medicom (V2) figure, but I have to say the PF is definitely the one to get :duff

Yep say it on Syfy! Definitely a treat and the HD was great! I love movies made up in the early 1900's. The style and the way ppl talk is just brilliant.

Thanks for the input :hi5: I think with the Medi version being so rare it's pretty close to the price of the PF (though I haven't checked to see how much it's going for) so I guess the PF would be the way to go. Though I'd definitely try to track down an exclusive

Re: Premium Format Rocketeer

Hopefully The Rocketeer sees a better bluray treatment with some awesome features, the regular dvd got ripped off.

Re: Premium Format Rocketeer

Listening to James Horners' excellent score of the movie right now. ;)

D23's Rocketeer 20th Anniversary Celebration

062111.EE.EVENT_Rocketeer_feature.jpg

It's time to grab your helmet and prepare to take flight once again! D23 is celebrating the 20th anniversary of The Rocketeer with an unprecedented reunion of the film's notables, film screening and an exhibit to honor the movie, which sent audiences sky-high two decades ago.

Now to honor the film 20 years later D23 is inviting faithful fans of the film to return to the historic El Capitan for a one-night-only experience. To start the night, writer/producer/director Kevin Smith will host a panel of cast and crew members from the film. Following the reunion panel, fans will be treated to the beloved out-of-this-world adventure on the big screen. After the movie, guests are invited to tour the Hollywood Museum — located in the historic Max Factor building — and explore the museum's four floors of exhibits as well as a special presentation of props and costumes from The Rocketeer, curated exclusively for this night only by the Walt Disney Archives.

In 1991 when The Rocketeer hit theaters, actor Bill Campbell effortlessly won fans over with his sincere portrayal of the heroic Cliff Secord. In honor of the 20th anniversary of this Disney film favorite, Campbell will participate in a panel discussion hosted by cult-followed filmmaker — and self proclaimed Rocketeer fan — Kevin Smith. The panel will occur immediately before an exclusive screening of the film on June 21, 2011 at the legendary El Capitan Theatre, where the film premiered two decades ago, transporting audiences to a golden age of thrills, glamour and, of course, sleek jet packs. In addition to the rocket man himself, the panel will also feature the Academy Award®-winning makeup artist Rick Baker (whose other work for Disney includes Enchanted and Captain EO), the two screenwriters responsible for the acclaimed film, Danny Bilson (GoldenEye: Rogue Agent) and Paul De Meo (James Bond 007: Everything or Nothing), and as a special treat, iconic renowned illustrator and close friend of Dave Stevens, the creator of The Rocketeer comics, William Stout (Pan's Labyrinth, The Muppet Wizard of Oz) will offer insight on transforming The Rocketeer from graphic novel to the big screen.** Other talent will be announced in the coming weeks.

On June 21, 1991, Hollywood's landmark art deco El Capitan Theatre — restored to its original glamour — opened its gilded doors for The Rocketeer, transporting audiences to a golden age of style, glamour and, of course, sleek jet packs. Stunt pilot Cliff Secord (Billy Campbell) discovers a stolen rocket pack and sets off on a series of heroic (and sometimes hilarious) adventures that attract the attention of Howard Hughes (Lost's Terry O'Quinn), the FBI, gangsters, a band of Nazis and one aspiring actress, namely Cliff's girlfriend Jenny (Jennifer Connolly). The rest is now cinematic history.

D23 Members have the chance to purchase their tickets three weeks before the general public, and members will have the advantage of being able to reserve their own seats. D23 Members and the guests they purchase tickets for will also receive a special commemorative Rocketeer gift.

The general public will be able to purchase remaining General Admission tickets on May 23rd. All guests are invited to attend the special Rocketeer exhibit following the film, where there will also be exclusive, limited-edition Rocketeer collectibles available for purchase from D23 and Creature Features.

It's time to suit up and take to the skies once more. There's never been a better time to look like a hood ornament!

Re: Premium Format Rocketeer

Wow... so ordering tickets to that screening tonight!:yess:

I wonder if I can take my 1/6 figure stand and PF base to get signed by Bill Campbell...

Re: Premium Format Rocketeer

Seriously! I think I'll try for the HT stand, the PF base may be a bit much to lug around :lol Thanks for the link, so pumped for this now :yess:

Yeah...it might be a tad too much to haul that base around all night! :lol

You're very welcome and I hope you take some cool pictures to share with us! :rock

Good Luck with meeting the cast and crew! :hi5:

Do me a favor...french kiss Jennifer Connelly for me and tell her that Darth Snoopy sends his regards! ;) :naughty :lol

I will definitely take some pics!

And God knows I would love to do you that favor, but 25 years in prison is quite the deterrent :lol

Re: Premium Format Rocketeer

I wish I could go. I would love to see The Rocketeer on the big screen again

I just really want a Blu-ray release. The best I've got right now is a 720p HDTV rip.

If I was going to this, I'd almost be grateful that now it's "skinny" Connelly, where I could probably contain myself. Because if Rocketeer-era Connelly was there, there's no telling what might happen. :drool

I am in major agreement with both of these statements :lecture

It has been a bummer watching Jennifer Connelly and Cameron Diaz transform into skeletons. Connelly in the Rocketeer and Diaz in The Mask...:drool

Re: Premium Format Rocketeer

I will go on record saying Jennifer Connelly in The Rocketeer is the best any woman has ever looked.

But at least Connelly is still pretty. Diaz took a very fast tumble after The Mask. Nowadays, she's frightening.
