Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

Nothing has been said at all. Heck nothing has been said where the breaking point will be between the two movies. As I said earlier, I would venture to guess we will see Smaug during the first film in a flashback, but not a full on smaug attack until the second film.

wait the hobbit is TWO movies??!?!

Yep, "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" December 2012 and "The Hobbit: There and Back Again" December 2013.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

I read the books back in grade school when the movies first came out. I had a hard time getting through them, but I did. I really need to pick up and read them again as I didn't take as much from them as I would now. For me though, I love the EE's, even though I don't remember half of the stuff being in the books. But, especially now as a film student, the TE's are SO much better. Especially when it comes to things like character development and story elements. If I had to choose, but since I've seen all the TE's and EE's 100+ times I usually watch the EE's. Every now and then though, I put in the TE's and am pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoy them.

Sorry for the old ladies hand, it was the fastest I could find while at work :lol

I even colored over her brooch :lol

Nah, its all good. It made me laugh.

:lol

The EE's are awesome for fans but the TE's are much better films. It's just the way it is. Josh is just gonna have to accept that.

I don't have to accept anything I don't choose. Sorry man :duff

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

I'd like it if PJ did what Cameron did with Avatar and have three versions of the films; theatrical, director preferred EE with only a few choice scenes added in and then the full EE for fans.

ROTK would be perfect with just the extra footage showing Saruman's death, some of the cool extra battle scenes (and yes I do like the Gandalf/WK confrontation), the Mouth of Sauron and Frodo/Sam falling in with the orc army.

With TTT I'd like just the extra Boromir/Faramir bits, Gollum spitting out the bread, and the little extended Helm's Deep battle footage.

FOTR TE is pretty much perfect as is. *Maybe* they could add in a few seconds here or there like Lurtz licking the knife and still keep the spot on pacing.

And yes of course I realize PJ doesn't give a rip about my ideal versions of the movies, just stating how they'd be if I had my druthers.
