Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

I don't care for 3D and hope it dies off again soon. But I do believe Nolan is on to something with true imax, I can't wait for a full blockbuster movie in that format.

10 days to go:yess:
I like 3D if it's done for depth and is filmed in 3D, like Avatar was. Most is just a waste of time, though I heard it actually looks better on a 3D tv at home.

I'd like to see the 48 fps, but there's no where around me that can show that.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

If 48 fps is so bad why is Peter Jackson fully for it and made the trilogy with it??? I want to see for myself...what will digital effects look like in 48???
Very excited to see it in this format if nothing for a new experience!

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

Well, Peter Jackson is known for his terrible filmmaking decisions.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

My first viewing will be in 24fps because I don't want to worry about any issues I might have. Now, that Saturday of the weekend it opens I have tickets to see it in IMAX 3D 48fps. So at that point I can see if its a method of movie showing I will like.

I'm planning on seeing 24fps first too. But I do want to see the 48fps at some point.

I want to see Gandalf's beard at 48 fps, lice and all.

I am eager to see the new format but I want my first experience and my folks (who I'm taking at midnight) to see it in 24. Just in case it is hard to adjust to.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

Not worried about 48fps won't even see it that way. (probably for years)

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

You will be worried if this takes off and all movies become it.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

It won't take off if it's not any good so no, no worries.

I used to be a huge hater of 3D until I saw it in the home. It's totally different and way better than at the theater.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

The only 3d movie that really blew me away at the theater was Avatar. It was done really well in that movie. Everything else sort of looks pretty regular to me after the first few minutes of the movie starting and I kind of stop noticing the 3d aspect of the film.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

I hated Avatar. The only reason I went to watch it is everyone raved on about how well done the 3D was but it looked pretty **** to me. If that's supposed to be the best that's ever been done, I'd hate to see anything less. Unfortunately HFR 2D is not an option, nor is 24fps 2D, so I've been forced into the position of watching 3D. I'll be severely disappointed if it doesn't top Avatar's overrated attempt but I'm fairly confident the HFR will greatly improve it.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

I want to talk Hobbit, but I can't stop watching dat damn boat video! :lol

Regarding 48fps, Irish is 101% correct, stay da **** away, run away as fast as you can from it, PJ is awesome, his LOTR trilogy are epic masterpieces, i'm certain Hobbit will be great, but wut was he smoking for choosing dis crazy ass format.

Nolan has it right, 15/70 Imax is godly.

I enjoy 3D for certain movies, when filmed with real 3D cameras it can be fun, but imagine LOTR EE in 3D :google my eyes would explode from exhaustion.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

At least we know one thing...There wont be any TDKR type of discussions here on this thread I bet...LOL

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

No, it will happen sadly enough.

Not like the Batman thread...NO WAY...unless some guy wants it totally like in the book or someone who hates PJ or never read the books...or someone who just plain crazy,or....

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

Technical stuff from a review:

the film was shot at 48fps, it had to be digitally downgraded to 24fps. This process includes adding fake motion blur and other digital tricks. My experience with 24fps, optimally projected in 3D, was as positive as any other modern digital film
