Another character-heavy episode last night, with the first 40 minutes or so devoted entirely to happenings off the battlefield. The last 10 minutes, though, more than make up for that slow first half.

So that leaves only, what? 2 more episodes to go?

I've refrained from reading anything about the real-life soldiers portrayed in The Pacific; I was truly shocked after tonight's episode. I'll definitely be reading the book after the series is over.

Same here, its hard not getting more information; but I enjoy the series more if I don't know what to expect.

And last night's ending was not expected :gah:

I expect the last two episodes to be about Leckie and Sledge. Well, I guess that would be obvious. :lol

For some reason I keep expecting Snafu to get killed.

I know....me too....I love his character.....he's my fav! :)

I hope he doesn't die. :(

I can't wait fro this to go to DVD. Looks fantastic from the few commercials I've seen.

It's a must buy. At first I didn't think it could live up to Band of Brothers, but it's probably just as good at this point. It not only puts you into the War, it makes you really care about all the soldiers. Even the ones who aren't the main characters.

Ack Ack is a good example of that. It sucked when he was killed. And you felt it when they were bringing his body down the hill.

DUDE... I had no idea the annoying kid in jurassic park was eugene :duh

It was bugging my wife for about 3 weeks until she looked him up on IMDB. Surprising when you see child actors all growed-up :lol

And is it just me, or does every battle seem more intense and f'd up than the last. The landing on Iwo Jima was unreal. :gah:

oh man...............what that guy was throwing rocks into.............that was disturbing & graphic............:monkey4
My brother is a huge WWII buff and said that he had read about that in one of his books (I don't remember which one.) But I do believe he said it happened in Iwo Jima and not on Peleliu.

Pour one out for Basilone.
Yesterday morning I watched Lost and cried and cried and then watched Ep 8 last night and cried some more!

Poor John and Lena...

holy crap that was an awesome episode. they have done a great job at giving some insight at the hell these men went thru. much respect to these guys. and the wrap up of next week looks to be good.

Yeah, another excellent episode. I'm glad the final episode will follow them after they return from war.

As a Marine, these stories are instilled in your soul as part of the history of our Corps and nation. I have been very pleased with this series and am very grateful that these stories have been put out in a format for everyone to see.

The same goes with me with the Band if Brothers. While I was in the Army the drill instructors kept telling us that we had it easy compared to the way they went through training and such back then.
