I just finished watching the last episode and I can truly say that it bring a tear to my eye and a smile at the end. What happend to them after the war is happing to us now. We come home, leave the service and find no jobs. Those of us that were infantry aren't taught to handle customer service at some store or just to handle what we've seen over there.

Lol...the Japanese surrender at the end. I'm about to sit down and watch the latest episode later.

~~DarthJuan, at least recently the V.A. has been picking up the slack and helping the OIF/OEF Veterans. Most of the main hospitals have a dedicated clinic for them as well as several Polytrauma clinics throughout the country that specialize in the injuries that many of us are coming home with.

Ohhh...yeah....were is my help??? It's been two years since I filed my claim. I still have to wait weeks if I want to see a doctor. :slap

I was a bit let down by the finale... still good stuff, but it seemed rushed in comparison to past episodes.

But overall an awesome series; and one I'll certainly watch again.

I haven't watched the Final Episode yet, but the Basilone and Sledge episodes were beautiful in terms of emotion.

Even with one episode left, I gotta say I much prefer Band Of Brothers. I don't think anything can come close to touching that series, it was just amazing from beginning to end. The Pacific was very good, but never came close to dethroning Band.

It definitely could have been another episode or two, but I thought the way the last episode was done was fitting. We sort of got to experience what those guys felt after the hell they went through. It was just over. From 100 to 0 just like that.

It was amazing how some of them didn't even say a word the last time they saw each other. I can't believe it was 35 years before Snafu spoke to any of them again. And great to see the photos of the actual men at the end.

Yeah, the end part was very cool... also a bit sad thinking how few are still alive.

Its strange thinking that I grew up knowing many WWII veterans but now can't think of a single person I knew growing up that is still alive.

Both of my grandfathers were in the War (one was in Europe and the other in the Pacific). I wish I had been able to talk to them about their experiences, but neither one of them talked about any of it to anyone.

Great series, I loved it!

The only gripe I have is that Band of Brothers flowed a lot better the The Pacific. Band of Brothers was one continuous story, while the pacific had a lot of gaps and it felt like a lot of time had passed between episodes without filling the audience in on what happened.

I hope we get more war mini-series from this great team, I think a Vietnam war era series would be the next obvious choice. But I would like to see a Korean war mini-series, as it gets less attention than the more 'famous' wars.

My Grandfather was the same way... although someone else he served with wrote a book their campaigns. Pretty dry reading, but interesting to know more about what he experienced.

I agree. It seemed like there were a lot of gaps between each of the episodes every week. Each episode left me guessing if I missed something or not the week before. Still really great and can't wait for Blu Ray release.

I think Spielberg is going to do a WWI project next. I believe I read it on the Hidefdigest forums a few months ago.

I can honestly say I know very little about WWI... I'd be very interested in seeing a series based on it.

I started reading Sledge's 'With the Old Breed' in which a large portion of The Pacific is based on, and wow so far it is an amazing read!

If you haven't read it already and truly enjoyed The Pacific, pick up Sledgehammer's book!!!

yeah my Dad was in WWII but i could rarely get anything out of him about it.
as for Pacific, i TIVO'd the series but somehow it didn't record like episodes 5-7. :(

The Finale was on here last night, not too bad, it's no Band though. I really enjoyed the acting of the Leckie and Sledge actors though, great guys!
