My money is on Clock King, but Egghead and King Tut are also strong contenders.

Was thinking about this earlier - they absolutely have to have Dent / Two Face in the trilogy, he’s too big a character to not feature, particularly with the mob storyline being so prominent. But I can’t see them making two face the main villain in Batman II as they would need to establish Dent first. So that leaves the possibility of establishing Dent as the DA in the second and then him going through his transformation toward the end or even in the third. But that would make Batman III with two face and joker too similar to TDK in the villain lineup department.

So yeah scratching my head on this.

With them having mentioned Batman II will be in the winter, it could well be MR. Freeze.

I sincerly hope and pray it's freeze tbh. We need redemtion and we need everyone to see that ALL the batman villians are just as interesting as the joker.

I always said ManBAt would be amazing in a fly like scenario but WB is to stupid to commit to that and Clayface (an actual Clay monster who shapeshift) would be amazing. And Poison Ivy would be top tier aswell. Honestly Make The second movie Poison Ivy and Freeze.

I don’t trust WB to make really cool decisions like that. But I really do want to move away from “grounded” Batman and dive into more fantastical villains. That’s what made Batman interesting. There were literally monsters in Gotham and then there mob things but they were only a little problem.

I honestly want to see scarecrow again.
I appreciate Nolan for what he’s done for the brand but the “realistic” approach to these characters has gotten tired.

Except for a lot of slo-mo push-ins to sad eyes, Peter Jackson would likely make an incredible Batman movie... given his horror background. It would be schmaltzy at times but also highly fantastic with incredible art direction.

After seeing his grounded Penguin and Riddler, I don’t see us getting a Mr. Freeze to what we’ve come to know the character to be. I mean Maroni died of a heart attack?

What about Todd Phillips? He made that amazing joker 2019 movie that never got a sequel and of it did it would have probably been just as good as the original .

Not exactly. You can do me freeze without cgi and same for clayface. I think a man with ice blue skin locked in a suit would be a great practical effect.
Also clayface can shapeshift to anything . His final form is just a huge mud man

It will just be the T-1000... which has been done, and is currently unbelievable fantasy. It would be a real stretch to give him any sort of genuinely believable "condition" that allowed him to change his form.

A believable Freeze is much easier.

Riddler was practically any random guy off the street though, I don’t see shapeshifters and frozen characters in his universe.

The villain will have to be a known character though,
if not it’s likely to bomb.

Freeze doesn't even have to be a "frozen" guy. He could leave frozen victims in his path. He could use 'cold' gimmicks. He could just be an albino guy with no hair so he looks the part, but he doesn't even have to be a temperature-handicapped character.

I think people like the suit and the 'living below zero' gimmick... but Ledger proved you could do away with the 'vat of chemicals that made me a pale guy with green hair' and fans will eat it up if done right and with the right actor.

That’s the problem, most of the movie going audience would view these characters as too corny to take seriously in any real manner. If your villain isn’t committing a murder spree like Seven or shooting guns and rigging explosions then it’s kind of dead in the water.

The last thing DC needs is for its characters to feel like they’re marvel characters after that series of films came and went, everyone is tired of superhero films which is why the Penguin show works as well as it does, grounded mafia tv series has always proven to be profitable.

Yeah, after Penguin it’s hard to believe some of the more fantastical villains would exist in the same universe as the dark mafia show we’ve seen.

I still think the Court of Owls would be the next villains to use. A secret society controlling the city would be believable. Just do without the zombie henchmen and it would work. Plus it would showcase Batman’s detective skills again, which seems to be what they’re going for with this series.

Throw Penguin in as an informant with some info on the Court and you get to include him again. Introduce Harvey Dent as DA and maybe pull a Billy Dee and just never make him Two-face in this series. Otherwise you end up with another Joker Two-face movie. Although we did get another Penguin Catwoman movie and but didn’t feel like a Batman Returns remake.

The problem is Nolan already most of the main realistic villains already. Riddler and Penguin were the main two he didn’t use and they’ve already been done here. Do you risk repeating or do you start going with more obscure ones like Professor Pyg or Hugo Strange or Ventriloquist and Scarface? Or do you change a fantastical villain so much they don’t resemble the character anymore but are more grounded?

They did it with Ledger and look how well that worked out. Granted, it's not so easy to do.

But I agree, of course, a more grounded universe requires more grounded villains. Honestly, Sofia is the best "Gotham" Villain since Ledger. Imagine how out of place Batman would seem, strapped to a chair, as Sofia circles him in her platform shoes to interrogate.

I mean the actor they have cast as Joker in this series is popular amongst the youth so he’ll bring an audience, though they can’t possibly lead with that look of Joker while their Batman actively stumbles around this version of Riddler’s riddles..

Batman isn’t a badass if that’s the shape the Joker is in when they first meet. That takes like half of their journey away..
