The People's Pick Awards for 2006 - Voting is live!

Every year for the past six years I've done the People's Pick Awards. Oh sure, I do my only selection for the best and worst of 2006 (that will come in January), but first I open up the voting for you, the reader, to decide. But rather than just throw it out there and make you do all the remembering (Hey, a year is a long time!) I put together a ballot to make the voting that much easier. I've got my first pass of the ballot now done, but here's your chance to review it and let me know if there are any other figures, busts, statues, companies, etc. you feel need to be included as part of the standard selections.

I haven't gotten all the prizes filled in yet - yes, there's always prizes for some of the lucky voters - and there are a couple categories I REALLY need some help on (12" female figures???). Please review the ballot when you get a second, but don't bother voting yet, as that won't start til next week. Right now, all I'm looking for is suggestions of choices to add to the categories. Either send me an email at [email protected] with your input, or just respond to this thread. You can find the ballot at:

https://www.mwctoys.com/FEATURE_120806.htm

And watch for the voting to open early next week!

Woops... I allready went through the whole thing. Oh wel. I'll just wait till its open. :lol

Thanks MC

for fem figs, BBI released a few in their "goth" line and Ladies Mission released some in Japan.
and what about Takara's CY/COOL GIRLS? i think their "Best of Cool Girls" line released Alternate (remake) versions of Ash (CG-03), Ruby, and Harley this year, tho it may've been last year when those came out.

I would add Medicom to a lot of the categories such as best/worst articulation, sculpting, company, packaging etc...

Also I think that Star Wars Transformers and Choppers should be added to the worst idea and worst line categories... I mean really (besides making sweet $) wtf were they thinking?!?

Agreed... Though SW Transformers are kinda cool, I actually lost a few IQ points seeing those Choppers in the local Wal-Mart. :duh

Oooo - shouldn't have left out Medicom! Fixed.

I thought the Choppers came out last year...was that just this year?

Hmmm not sure, but they definitely sucked :lol

Also you could maybe add the magnetic closures for the SW packaging for innovations or ideas... that was a pretty cool one.

The only thing that springs to mind that is missing is the Iron Man Comiquette in the statue section.
You could also include the Medicom Evangelion figures Asuka Langley Sohryu & Rei Ayanami in the 12" female sections, I'm not sure which section since I never bought them.

Second that for Ironman, and also the Wolvie Comiquette. :wave

If you are going to have the grossly disporportionate GG Vader, you should have Maul in there too (a much better statue).

Whoah-ho, there Michael. Under statues and sculpting you've forgotten all about Clayburn Moore, and his 2006 statues: Brandy from Liberty Meadows and She Dragon.

Maybe you can consider a special award for Comeback Kid of the year...he had a rocky time with the failure of his company.

And how about Enterbay?

This may be a stupid question, but should ED-209 be listed under the 12"-18" figure category rather than 18" or more? He's definitely a tough one to categorize, but since he's marketed as 1:6 scale (and he's technically shorter than 18") it seems like maybe he should fall under the former.

MICHAEL,IN THE LAST CATEGORY, ''THE LINE YOUR MOST LOOKING FORWARD TO''... DONT YOU MEAN LABIRYNTH JARETH INSTEAD OF DARK CRYSTAL JARETH??

Man, this year is gonna be a tough vote! especially in the statues and male 12" areas! I never had too much trouble in previous years, but just looking over the choices, I am already trying to decide between several excellent pieces!

My only question... why are there fewer choices under the worst categories than the best? Surely what may be the best to one collector will be the worst to another! I would include the same choices under both best and worst.

Which one is better? Anyone with an opinion?

Flaps - added.

ED-209 - I thought he was 18"? Doesn't matter what scale (if it did, the Balrog would be in the under 12" category), but rather actual size. Is he only around 15"?

Iron-man - added.

Donatello - can you confirm that it was a 2006 release?

GG Maul - added.

Jareth - fixed.

Brandy and She Dragon - added.

I've added Enterbay, although I'm a little hesitant to do it. They need more product before I can judge them, but I'll let voters decide.

Worsts and bests equaling - when it comes to straight company choices, I put the same set in both places. When it comes to lines and figures though, I try to use a little common sense. Is Aqua Tech Namor got a chance of winning Best figure of the year? Uh, no. So there's no point in sticking it in the bests. Likewise, I don't expect the ML Green Goblin to get any votes if he was in the Worst category, so he doesn't belong there. It's a matter of starting out with sensible choices, rather than everything that came out in the last year. There's always the Other box to cover the ones people feel strongly about.

I think you could also add the DID Samurai to the best Male 12" - 18" figure category (from what I hear, I don't own one).
I also noticed you have the Hot Toys Alien listed twice, once in the Best Male Figure 18" or more and a second time in the Best Male Figure 12" - 18".
