I know what they are, but I hate 'em. Pure junk if you ask me. Just another reason for Marvel to take lawnmowing money from kids. Furthermore, does Marvel/Hasbro really think kids want Spider-man wannabe Mego dolls--AGAIN (Famous Covers were awful!!!)? Out of touch like my dead grandmothers. Ewww...

I've been voting for the past couple of years, let's see if I finally win! :monkey5

I'll make the suggestion of adding Medicom Kubricks to the mini category, and the Four Horsemen under companies. They finally went solo, and deserve credit for their own accomplishments this year.

Just voted... and noticed that the Sideshow Star Wars line was missing from the best line list. Wonder if this was a mistake or not? And I'm surprised to see Luke only mentioned in the worst figure category. Sure he may have long arms, but he's still a badass figure (IMO)!

No, it's not. It's right there dude...

Yep, Luke wasn't mentioned in the best. I try to make judgement calls as to whether a figure has any real chance of getting enough votes, especially if there are better examples in the same line (Qui-Gon, Maul). Luke just didn't have what it takes to put him at the head of his class, but you can always write him in.

Michael,

Ice and Aska from the Cy line came out over a few years ago.

Takara released Cy's last year but Ice and Aska weren't them.

Ash and Cutey Honey V2 were released this year.

Yeah it's there and I voted for it.
For the first time in quite awhile, the best packaging category was a tough one. It was a tossup between Hot Toys and my usual favorite Sideshow.

I just read your picks and pans from top to bottom, amazing, as usual. I always look forward to best and worst of the year lists (I'm glad no one will say "get a life!" to me on this board :p), and your list is definitely one of my favourites. There's too much information on that 2006 retrospective and saying everything I thought when reading it is an impossible task.

I'll stick to Buffy/Angel, which is what grabs my attention the most. I'm just glad you included Cordy on the best 12-18" female figures. It makes me look forward to it even more (I'm getting her tomorrow at last!). Oh, and it's funny that she's also on the worst list, Pylean Princess Cordy is indeed an abomination. The Becoming bust is horrible as well, I'm glad I didn't get it. In all, I agree with everything you wrote, but it's weird you didn't mention the DST Buffy articulation, with so many characters dismembered while trying to pose them.

Congrats for a great year of reviews and happy 2007!

Well, she's not on my worst list - she was on the ballot though for poeple to choose if they desired. I know a lot of people complained about her, and to be honest, if the field for female 12" figures had been stronger this year, I might not have put her in my top three. But the field was so damn small...

Great piece Michael...and I think I agreed with you on pretty much everything. Well, I'm not sure about that vote for Family Guy, especially after that last series (Hippy Death and Hooker Lois???).

Good stuff on your best and worst pics! It really has been and interesting year for the 1/6 and higher end market. I don't know how long we have until the bubble bursts... but it seems like Sideshow is doing a bang-up job of keeping current with the market!
