That was a great read, one I've been looking forward to. Can't wait to hear the People's vote tally.
I do disagree with you significantly on two categories, I think Hot Toys' Packaging is easily better then Medicom's Packaging and on par with Sideshow's packages; And as nice as Medicom's body is, it isn't better then Hot Toys' body IMHO. I've also a breakage problem caused by poor plastics with Medicom's bod and I'm not the only one with that problem.
Agree to disagree, but I would like to hear your thoughts on them.

Good stuff Mike but I have to say the 12" Maul or Obi-Wan are far better IMO than the X3 Wolverine.

I just finished reading it with no problems?

Surprised with Legends getting so much praise... I've been pretty bored with their offerings this year and the quality seemed to be pretty spotty. But I could imagine a higher percentage of collectors are into Legends than 1/6 figures.

But always a fun read, thanks!

I don't think the ML line is better than the SW line by even a close margin but I guess I'm in the minority. :lol

What's the story with Shocker Toys? I'm not familiar with them. What makes them so craptacular?

I'd like to know more of what happened with them too. But the one thing I do remember is that they threatened to sue Michael last year for being picked the worst overall mini figure or something. Maybe Michael can say more about that?

Marvel Legends and Toy Biz got top picks because there's more collectors out there that buy them then there are Sideshow collectors.
But it's nice to see Sideshow recognized as top company this year by collectors in general.
I like Marvel Legends, but it's funny that they get top pick for articulation. They stole their double jointed elbows and knees from the 1/6 figures, namely Dragon.
I can't believe that Hot Toys got no love this year; instead Takara and Medicom got recognized instead. Hot Toys' packaging is at least on par with Sideshow's stuff. In some ways, I like Hot Toys' packaging better.
And the Princess Leia And Boba Fett statues are better then the Iron Man Comiquette, and the Lurtz PF? No I don't think so. It goes to show that Star Wars geeks rule them all. :(
I'm still looking for the DCSH Batgirl, I never saw one in Target. I did pick up the DC Direct Power Girl, had it been listed I would've voted for it; I voted for Batgirl instead.

In general, the president of the company is tremendously unprofessional in all written communications. His posts to message boards are particularly bad, with grammar and spelling being the least of his worries. He tends to lash out at anyone not in agreement, and has made wild claims against any website or print publication that he didn't agree with. It doesn't help that many of the 'fans' of the company that post at other sites seem to be the same person (the writing style tends to strike a similar and obvious appearance).

There's also claims of unpaid bills to a number of folks that have done work for them, but at this point I have no idea if those bills are still unpaid. Then Toybiz (Marvel Toys) came along and pretty much stole most of the licenses out from under Shocker on their new Indie line, and they looked bad again.

And yes, they tend to threaten to sue anyone that publishes or says anything they don't like. They certainly weren't the first or last to threaten me over a review/column, but they were certainly the silliest. I have to give them some credit though - I haven't heard a peep out of them over this year's results, and in the one recorded interview I've heard with Geoff (the president), he came off far better than he does in writing.

How can you sue someone over a review when it is just someones opinion?

I don't think Peyton Manning could sue John Madden because he gave his opinion on one of his passes.

Probably over libel because it's in print. I'm not sure if that applies to the internet but in our litigious country, it wouldn't surprise me that people sue each other for bull***** reasons. The lack of money or bad press can oftentimes scare someone away from a trial and force them to comply to someone else's will even if it's all BS.

Thanks for the insight.

Michael Did you buy any of the DID figures? I'm wondering if you bought their Samurai Date Masamune? He certainly belongs in the top figures of the year imo.
