Re: Predator Reboot...

It's like this. the first 40 minutes of Predators are crap. the last 30 minutes are completely amazing. I almost wish they released a version of the movie where they cut the beginning from it.

For me the first 40 minutes of Predators are it's strongest part. It's a tad long with it's build up but it sets the story and builds towards what should have been something much better. Noland shows up and completely kills the movie by slowing it down to the point where I was clock watching in the cinema and sets up the Super Predator tribe war that was a) not needed and b) executed poorly.

Re: Predator Reboot...

well fatburn does suck but once the predator find him then the movie gets really good.

I hate the beginning because these people walking around and looking at the sky is pretty lame. they just sit or stand and talk about how weird all of this is and then they look at the moons or they argue, for me it was like "yawn"

:goodpost:

Yeah I think the whole movie is consistent though, and the 1st part towards the 1st encounter with the predators is excellent, except for the Noland parts, they're just meh and boring, the whole movie is consistent and it even reaches a high point towards the end.

If Rodriguez was smarter, he would have had the Classic Pred kill the Berserker, and have the Classic Pred die some other way, people would regard Predators higher if it happened like that.

AVP, the predators are cool but everything else is crap. the actors are crap and the violence and the action are crap and the ending is pretty crappy. So when a predator or an alien shows up the movie is good but when it is just the humans it turns to crap again

Hmmm, I'm going to give them all another watch as I'm about due. The beginning of Predators wasn't crap though imo, it started to build the tensions and foundations for the rest of the movie. without spoiling too much for those who still haven't seen it, I remember really liking the scene where one of the Predators first mimics a human voice. The acting was solid, the suits were fine, some of the cinematics were superb, the fight between Hanzo and Falconer was superbly shot despite the limitations of the suits. And some of the character development was pretty interesting, Tropher Grace in particular. The thing I liked least about it was Laurence Fishburne, I like him in general, but what a weird addition to the movie. I didn't like the idea of the super predators but I've come to accept it for what it was, and to be fair, the Berserker looks bad ass with his bio on. Really disliked the Falconers bio mask though I have to say. Over all, I enjoyed Predators, I thought it was surprisingly good in fact.

AVP though, errgh, I wouldn't say I hate the movie, I can sit and watch it occasionally but I'm not a huge fan and a lot of aspects of it are pretty rubbish. The acting is shocking in places, the Scottish guy comes to mind especially. It ignores a huge amount of canon. But the thing I hated most is how they humanised the Predators, they are the least Predator like Predators ever to grace our screens. When scar took his mask off I didn't know whether to laugh or swear at the top of my voice. They made all three of the main predators far too similar, the thing I love most about the Predator design is that they are all so unique, different armor, weapons etc etc. What AVP gave us however was three American football players wearing the same outfits. I liked the look of Celtic over all, I think he would have been more likable however if they had made scar more lean like a proper yautja, and Chopper different again. But three Predators the same, and nothing like a Predator should look was too much, a bit of variety would have been a great thing. The fight with Celtic and Grid was pretty cool though, as was the ship design and I always enjoy watching Lance Henriksen.... even though he shouldn't have been in this movie...

edit, seems I'm not alone as others put much the same as I was typing.

Re: Predator Reboot...

Berserker was the best part about Predators but overall I did enjoy it.

Stupid Rodriguez made a HUGE mistake making the captured Predator look more or less identical to the 1987 version which I think must have confused casual fans (who thought it was the same Predator) and also I think that he was making a statement that his Preds were that so much better and bigger and badder than the original which to me is the reason he made that captured Predator as close as looking to the original as possible.

Re: Predator Reboot...

I still love Wolf, but honestly, I don't watch anything other than P1 or P2 anymore. I could see a film with 2 Predators, but anything more than that is overkill. The ending of P2 doesn't count.

Re: Predator Reboot...

well fatburn does suck but once the predator find him then the movie gets really good.

Tracker finds Noland and kills him in the most boring and unoriginal way. Tracker has about two minutes of screen time and then dies. Falconer shows up and dies within minutes. We then have to watch two guys wearing Predator suits fight it out wrestling style.

Not all the acting in AvP was bad. Sanaa Lathan, Raoul Bova, Ewen Bremner, Henriksen, etc - they were all good. Not great, but good.

Do you honestly think the action in AvP was "crap"?

Without a doubt, AvP had the best choreographed fight scenes in the franchise.

You say "when a predator or alien shows up the movie is good", but all the action scenes are crap? How does that make any sense? :lol

Funny that you think the first half of Predators was crap. That's probably my favorite part. It was a bit slow at times, but I thoroughly enjoyed the set-up. My favorite scene in the film actually takes place fairly early on. The scene revealing the other planets/moons/asteroid belts, indicating that they aren't on Earth. Loved the music during that, the amazed expressions on everyone's faces, etc.

The predahound attack sequence. I wasn't a fan of how some of the hounds just sat there and didn't even try to evade the bullets being sprayed at them, but in general I really liked the sequence.

Royce's "This planet is a game preserve, and we're the game" speech.

The first encounter with the super predators, and the reveal of Classic strung up at the camp, I thought, was handled very well and never ceases to entertain me. That action sequence with the invisible super preds chasing the team, Mombassa's death by spear projectile, Royce's "RUUUNN!!!" - loved it.

When Noland shows up the film takes a turn for the worse, though there were still some good parts like the Hanzo vs Falconer fight, Stans attacking and then being ripped apart by Mr. Black, etc. But the end with Classic vs Mr. Black and Royce vs Mr. Black was very disappointing. The suit actors weren't talented enough to know how to make the fight look real, and Classic's suit looked so cheap it was just embarrassing.

Oh, this post was by Blackmask. Why did I even bother responding.

It's still crazy that a Predator suit made in 1987 can be superior in every way to a Predator suit made in 2010. Watching KPH as the original Predator is probably the only time in a Predator movie that you could actually believe it's a real alien walking around on the set.

Re: Predator Reboot...

Robert Rodrigues did not write or direct predators. Im not defending him but yeah

writer: Alex Litvak, Michael Finch

director: Nimród Antal

I am not sure what Rodriguez did besides put his name on it and use his studio.

Also in the commentary he says that if he was directing the movie he would have shown the predators a lot earlier and have more action scenes. But then he goes to praise Nimród Antal saying how he is his favorite director and this is his favorite movie bla bla bla

:exactly: It just has the right look, the right wetness, the right suit and the perfect acting behind the suit, I mean, just look at your sig :lol

I guess the Jungle Hunter clan is more disciplined than the lost tribe, maybe the use the same armor and gadgets as uniform.

Don't be fooled by RR. I'm sure he had a very active part in this movie.

But according to ******** Paul W. S. Anderson the Predator costume from 1987 was clearly a man in rubber suit wearing a modified hairdryer. :gah:

That was the only time I was mad at Lance Henriksen when he was promoting AVP he stated with words to this effect - 'that whether you liked the movie or not after viewing it you would have to agree that they were the best looking Predators and Aliens on screen so far'. :lol

OG Predator is still the best and then City Hunter. :rock

see.......I was going to answer with a normal response, you have to do what you always do... :cuckoo:

Can't have one day that you are not doing this can you. But that's okay, you just wrote a wall of text that I won't bother reading,

joke's on you lol :chillpill:

but I already said it before (before it was deleted) , I am not going to play your little game.
Or give you the attention with an insult or an argument. you keep trying to get a reaction out of me if you want, but I'll just ignore you since all you want to do is make your little passive aggressive comments. (and things were so peaceful :rolleyes2)

Actors are paid to say those things whereas RR genuinely believed his way was the best.

I blame every bad thing about Predators on RR because of those awful King and four-armed predator ideas he's thrown around.

Indeed! :yuck
