I've watched a few of his reviews and he's not my favorite, but I've never felt the urge to personally attack him or anything.

I usually watch, ClipperKing for in-depth reviews.

It's "HIGHEND COLLECTIBLES" dum dum, "HIGHEND COLLECTIBLES". There's a big difference between "HIGHEND COLLECTIBLES" & "Toys".
Grow up.

Spin it how you want, doesn't change the facts
And no need for insults

I've always thought the product review gig was highly suspicious. So much of this stuff is sent to the reviewer for free by retailers or manufacturers (I'm not even speaking only about toys, this happens for phones, video games, popcorn makers, etc.). If I get something for free, of course I'm going to think it's at least decent, and even if it's crap, and someone sent it to me for free, just out of politeness, I'm not going to say it's crap.

Also, side note, but if I'm following this thread correctly, OP is Sean Long and he started his own appreciation thread.

???

Sean brings a childlike awe to his reviews. He's relentlessly positive and if you need a lighter take, he's definitely a go-to guy. The only time I've really questioned his state of mind was the Affleck rant. He was starting to hyperventilate! :lol Comes off as a real nice guy though. All the best to him.

And for godsakes Sean, it's Keaton as in Key-ton, not Keithan!

i totally agree, that was my main point about him and others that are sponsored by these very companies (ex: ssc). it's fine and great for whoever wants to watch him and like his reviews and its awesome that he can earn a living by doing that. but in regards to an unbiased and good review, i don't feel i get that from him imo.

in a side note, i really don't get why so many people have issues with others having strong opinions about matters that may not follow their own. they're just opinions on a forum meant to be open to people's opinions. as long as their appropriate and not too overly disrespectful i don't see the harm. i think this forum is great, who cares what other people may say about it, just so long as you like it. my two cents.

There is some guy that apparently gets all the He-Man toys early, and rarely says a negative word about them apparently. There are definitely factors that sway objectivity. But that's something you have to contend with in all kinds of contexts.

Well I think you hit on it yourself--opinions get overly disrespectful and/or inappropriate, and that's where they have to be squashed to promote the greater good of making the forum a place people want to be. And in this case, there was the extra dimension of Dave not wanting to run someone off that could bring traffic to the forum. In other cases, we may take extra steps to ensure that an artist doesn't get offended and leave or take issue with the forum. That's why certain general topic areas (religion and politics) are often not allowed here at all. Just makes things unpleasant. Some have a lot of difficulty discussing contentious issues in a reasonable way.

I've reopened this thread to make a point.

This guy reviews the things we love and helps a lot of people make decisions about whether to buy an item or not. Judging by the number of subscribers to the YouTube channel there are a lot of people who find the reviews of value.

And the responses in this thread are the reason I hear this forum being dismissed by a lot people as being full of attitudinal rudeboys who would rather troll than contribute anything of value.

I wish more members would contribute like Sean does - this forum and the hobby wouldn't have the poor reputation that it does.

O. Nvm. So this forum gets that rep? No surprise. Movie thread is full of very rude people who turn u off to the hobby. Still I find this the best site to discuss hot toys and video game collectibles.

His little skits with the figures actually make me chuckle.

As a reviewer, I'm not big on him. He seems to like everything, everything is "nice".

Im not big on video reviews anyway.

. . . its awesome that he can earn a living by doing that. . . .

I don't know enough about that to comment really, but as far as I know. Once you hit 1,000 views, YouTube pays you $.50 for every 1,000 views of your video after that. Is that correct?

I don't see how you could make a living off that.

i think it's more from his sponsors. i may be wrong but i heard that his channel and his reviews is how he earns a living. i think it was from that show he was on "collection intervention". said that's what he does for living.

he reminds me of a dorky talkative kid i wouldve picked on in grade school..

Sean doesn't get everything for free according to what he's said in the past. Certain things get sent to him and he gets discounts I believe but he's said before that he actually pays for a lot of his stuff.

I hate..HATE when he says "Artickle-ation... as a reviewer of toys...you should be able to pronounce articulation.

Blade3327 was a great reviewer - brought up every talking point good and bad - I think he stopped doing them though.

I don't like biased reviews or any kind of review where you can tell the reviewer feels he can't be completely objective (because he probably received his toy from the company for free).

Some of you really need more going on in your life besides collectibles and staring at a computer monitor.

Now that hes an official reviewer for Sideshow toys, i think we'll be ssing a lot more of his reviews on this forum. I for one can appreciate his childish humor. He obviously has love for a lot of the same things we all love and collect. I got nothing but love for ya Sean!
