You have a statue company trying to get into the 1/6 scale market. It could be that Jerry couldn't produce the quality of figures that customers demand at a reasonable price and produce enough figures to keep his production costs low while still making a profit. Nothing wrong with that. He is not Sideshow where he can absorb a lackluster product with higher profile licenses. His margins are probably just too thin. Sometimes it's just best to just do what you are good at and leave other products for other companies.

Jerry has insights into the industry that we don't know about, so it could be that the 1/6 market is in trouble. I don't collect much 1/6, but what I see is too much SW, Marvel, and DC. And when the obscure figure comes along collectors demand high quality, with bang on likeness and a ton of accessories for $200. When a company hits the mark like Sideshow did with Ash, then it's well received. When they miss the mark like with Snake Plissken or Beeltejuice, the sales suffer. I'm just not sure if it's realistic for customers to expect so much and for companies to invest so much in a niche figure to meet those expectations.

Every statement is either a guess or in some very rare cases, one person's perspective. No one really knows. He doesn't know how sales are for HT or even probably Sideshow. I would guess that from his perspective, and American company making 1:6 is not profitable, especially when they have to license everything. You have a ton of Chinese companies producing unlicensed figures in the city that makes all of them, there is no way they can compete. And there is a ton of stuff flooding the market. Just my opinion.

I think to describe the 1/6 action figure market as ' collapsing ' is ridiculous, if anything it seems to be getting bigger year on year. Hot Toys sales have probably slowed down primarily because of the lack of new figures being released from them. I feel this is down to HT being in the position now of being able to delay figures which they are not entirely happy with, Wonder Woman & Ripley being just two examples. Before HT probably had to get certain figures out by a set date. Now they are in the position of retailers/wholesalers waiting on them.

The big fish is always gonna eat the smaller fish. HT is the big fish in this instance, but there is still plenty more fish in the sea for other companies.

I disagree with the original post; I have zero interest in SW, and I cherry pick from Marvel DC. While it's the niche stuff like most of which Phicen are releasing, that I am collecting. Price is another factor in whether I buy a figure.
