We watch this and I really enjoy it. My only complaint is that my wife constantly points out the very large plot-hole with "EVERYONE forgetting about 200+ people dying on a plane, then their bodies disappear & no one notices, no one notices them return home, the four living survivors slowly getting sicker and no-one reports it nor checks up on them" (run-on intended)

I am a public school teacher and if a kid shows up ANYWHERE in our district with TB, everyone knows about it and the CDC keep them in quarantine and then checks on them nonstop; look at how much coverage the Ebola outbreak in Africa is getting and how much supervision the patients have? The news agencies would be covering 200+ people dying like mad and would chasing family to interview; a political cover up wouldn't make that just go away in a few days. Also did the security guy that reviewed the footage of the coffin disappearing just forget that a 9 foot coffin flew off and was unaccounted for?

I don't know how much the press has been told. Plus the internet is down or messed up because of that woman they hired. Seems from the last show that they're trying to keep things pretty hushed up. Look how Hef was treated when he tried to show his boss that video.

I don't know how much the press has been told.
Remember on the first episode all of the live news reports at the airport; I think that is how Hef's son found out? I remember them telling the press that it was a military chemical leak as a cover up.

Either way, in reality the press would be all over every aspect of that story like stink-on-poo and the idea that the four 'survivors' would just go home after a single day is even more unrealistic. Even if they are keeping things 'hushed up', the secret service & CDC would be looking for the 200+ bodies that broke out of the morgue...and there would be an army of coroners & scientists looking at 200+ bodies that died, not just one. Let's not forget the secret service forgetting about the cargo bay being forced open or the magically disappearing 9 foot coffin (that they had on security lockdown) with a witness seeing it fly away and every guard knowing that it got away.

Like I said, I really enjoy the show and plan on reading the books once I finish with Hawkwood & the Kings, but the plane/missing bodies/survivors released aspect of the outbreak is a pretty big plot hole.

While there are some aspects that are a bit unbelievable, I don't think most of what's happened - in a matter of a few days - is all that much of a stretch.

As to the press, they were told it was the airlines fault - by very high ranking people. The airline CEO committed suicide. Pretty much looks like it's the airlines fault, and it's something not disease related but plane malfunction related. While tragic, it would be old news pretty fast, and there's no reason for anyone to think 'conspiracy'.

The powers behind have shown on screen their ability to control and manipulate high ranking and low ranking people. To assume the only ones they have control over are the ones you've seen is naive - they have the CDC in their pocket at any level they need. There's not an army of coroners looking at the bodies because they don't want there to be - again, remember that this was blamed away almost immediately as a plane air handling malfunction. The only reason the one coronor was looking at the bodies was at the behest of Eph. How many people even know the bodies are missing?

All this is happening very fast. I think the show is doing a poor job of making that clear, which is unfortunate since it's a key aspect of the Master's plan. They have to move quickly, and they know it.

I am 2 episodes behind and I feel like I've missed half the season by the sounds of everyone's comments! So much seems to have happened in those episodes, which I think is great.

Nice post. :clap

I believe only about 60 hours have passed since the flight landed. The flight landed at 8:00PM (pick an arbitrary date: Aug 15).

Aug 16th - The coffin disappeared, vamps awoke in coroner's room and little girl returned home early AM Aug 16. The four survivors were released and little girl vamps her father later that day.

Aug 17 - Ansel wakes up with fangs, rocker dude's weiner falls off, pilot goes full vamp. Autopsy performed on pilot. Setrakian/Eph - kill little girl and father.

Aug 18 - lawyer mom's eyes freak out maid, Fet encounters vamps in sewers, Setrakian and Eph kill Ansel, misc vamp attacks people in elderly home.

Does this sound about right to everyone? All in all I think only about 60 hours have passed since the plane has landed. Between the false cause of death statement issued to the press and the lines of communication being cut, I can see how the rest of the city/world are pretty much unaware of what is happening.

Guess we all should have paid more attention to the time/date stamps shown during certain scenes. :lol

So they changed the way the infection works now? It sounded like Eichorst was keeping the victim alive for several feedings

Also the scene with Matt in the mall was such stupid writing. Like cheesy horror writing. Oh no! My co-worker has been attacked and is bleeding from his neck! I had better run out into the hall unarmed to see who did this! Oh look! 2 sketchy looking men! I had better call out to them and give them a stern talking to! Good thing I took that Sears mandated conflict resolution course!

In all fairness he seems like a guy with a big enough ego to try and take on two sketchy dudes.

Why do you continue to watch this show? :lol

Just about every post of yours is a complaint or criticism.

I have read the books too and the books will always be better than tv/movie. I am just enjoying the ride of this show. I think it is pretty well done. Perfect? No, but enjoyable nonetheless.

Fet is the only reason I watch this show. Kill off Eph and Nora and just have Fet rolling around killig strigoi and battle the master with setrakian and Gus as his back up and I will love the show. JK lol. I dunno, I do enjoy the show although like I said again, I wish I hadn't read the books. That being said they have admittedly done things better on the show than in the books. I liked how they used the eclipse later in the season as opposed to the very beginning (although I wish they had used it to show more vampires attacking people during the day as opposed to just the coroner), Gus and Jim being the ones to get rid of redferns body, and eph being caught dragging away the body.

I agree it's a well done show and what they can accomplish is great. The vampires look creepy (I'm curious if they'll keep with the idea of them running around naked eventually) and the CGI is surprisingly good as well. I try to turn off my book gripes but sometimes there's just stuff that they change almost needlessly. Like last night, when Gus saves his buddy, there was a family he was saving too. I know that they've shown he can be kind to his mom so there's that but it would of showed he was still willing to help strangers. Also Matt's scene. I dont know of anyone unless they have some sort of training that would approach 2 guys in a hall after they seemingly stabbed a co-worker in the throat.

It's just writing like that that bugs me. Simple stuff that could be changed so easily. I could of rewritten that Matt scene in 2 seconds using the same hallway set that would of been 10X better.

Anyways, moving on.

Not sure if any of you heard but Doug Jones makes an appearance in the show this season as well.

Also that basement scene was creepy as ****. All the strigoi huddled on the floor together and then waking up. Thats nightmare fuel right there.

I hope the colossal a-hole boyfriend was killed so we don't have to slog through that clichéd storyline anymore.

Just an example, here's how I would of done it. Matt and co-worker in break room blah-blahing when they hear a cry for help from the hall. They go to investigate and see their coworker/random employee slumped in the hallway, hand on neck, a large streak of blood along the wall from the side door as the guy used his hand to keep himself up. Matt and coworker run up asking the guy what happened and freaking out. This part is filmed with them all at the front of the she shot and the empty hallway and dirt/dust covered and or blinking light above the door is in the background. Change shot to Matt telling his employee they need to call an ambulance and security right away. Change shot again to them in front and long hallway, only this time there are two hooded figures standing under the light and the sound of the door automatically closing draws their attention down the hall. Matt's voice cracks as he says he's called security and these individuals start to run towards them in a very inhuman way. Matt turns to see his co-worker is already up and running so he takes off as well. Just as he is about to reach the door, it is slammed and locked by the coworker. Matt slams on the door begging for the guy to open it who is pressed against it crying. End scene.

I've only watched the first half of last night's episode so I can't comment on Matt's encounter with the vamps at the end, but I am with you on Nora. The character is pretty useless so far. I like how she witness the vamp attack at the old age home and she escapes with her mother. What does she do? Goes to sleep. Maybe it was all a bad dream? Why not try returning one of the dozens of calls Eph made to you? I also don't really care for the actress that plays her. Terrible acting IMO. Other than her though, I like the show.

I was thinking about the human that Eichorst had chained up. I don't remember that from the books, but I thought it was pretty cool. I don't thin they necessarily changed the way the virus works. I was thinking that where Eichorst is experienced and smarter than the average vamp that he used "controlled" feedings on him. Meaning maybe he is able to control the worms so that they don't enter the host unless he allows it to happen. Almost like a controlled response/technique that he has mastered over the years. I thought that dude was Matt at first, but I am guessing he is just a random guy?

That basement scene was creepy! It reminded me of the Will Smith movie, I Am Legend. Freaky!

If Doug Jones is going to be on The Strain, maybe that means he won't be on Falling Skies much longer. If you think The Strain is bad, then you are missing out on some true crap with Falling Skies, or rather Falling Ratings. That show is a train wreck.

Doug Jones is a very busy actor. Check his IMDB page for things he has in production. Anyway, his part on Falling Skies is very small now and the series is done next season. They may have already filmed it. Colin Cunningham (Pope) was on Hells on Wheels this week though it looked like a one shot thing. I agree FS is a train wreck. The new writers ruined what good was left of it.

Just started watching this on On-Demand. Liking it so far. Funny thing is, my wife usually likes vampire crap and she watched the season premier and wasn't impressed so she quit. I wasn't going to watch it either until I saw a promo that interested me and by then there was 5 episodes lined up. So I banged out 1 - 4 ala Portlandia's "One More Episode" before I had to finally lay down to get ready for work (2 hours, awesome!). And while I watched my wife watched and got hooked. Basically it's one of those shows (for her) that didn't capture her attention enough to wait an entire week for another episode. But when there's a bunch on On-Demand you can bypass that and it helps to hook you. Only problem is, they removed episode 5 but the latest one (6) is up there. WTF?

I would assume the cell phone stuff is partially her ignoring him but didn't they also blame some of it on spotty cellphone service? Could be part of stonehearts plans to disrupt info.

I don't recall him feeding like in the show either but it sounds like if he is getting multiple feedings off a victim that they did change it. In the books (book spoiler for fall/night eternal)
The master had to be very careful to only get a droplet of blood in zacks mouth because the blood worms would easily infect him if he gave any more than that droplet
. My other theory and this is really stretching but considering his speed and mental capacity, maybe they're changing him to a born?

As I understand it, it's a very brief scene but I think I have a good idea who it is and it will be awesome if I'm right.

I agree with you both though, the newest season of falling skies is el crappo.

Thought last night's episode was decent; this is one of those shows that is probably a lot more enjoyable to watch if you DVR several in a row, and watch them back-to-back. The pacing is such that, it goes by way way way too quick. Some of the writing definitely could use work, but I dig it mostly. Now that the shan is hitting the fit, it should pick up. Fet is my fav character, easily
