Well, as several of you have already discovered, you just can't collect everything Sideshow puts out, no matter how much you would like to. I have finally gotten over the denial and realize I just don't have the space to store, much less display, everything in my collection plus my current pre-orders. Also, I can no longer afford to keep up the pace with all the PF figures, dioramas, life size busts, etc. that Sideshow is releasing.

With the announcement of more Universal Monster Premium Format figures, and the strong possibility of more 1:1 busts, I have made the hard but necessary decision to cut some lines from my collection. I will of course continue to collect all things monster related that Sideshow releases, and will probably keep the LOTR line going if they continue at the pace they are. Plus, I will try to keep some of the rarer pieces or example pieces from some of the lines.

So what gets the axe? Well, I'm starting with the Marvel and Star Wars lines. Most of the 1:1 busts, dioramas and comiquettes will go. Also some odd and end 12" figures from some lines I came in late on and only have a few figures of. Eventually I will probably even let the PF figures go. :monkey2

It has been a fun ride the last couple of years collecting almost everything and I wish it could last, but alas, all good things must come to an end...

Lonnie

P.S. I have some items up on eBay right now, but I will be listing several items in the board For Sale section soon. I needed to prepare for more up coming pre-orders and Christmas, so I put a few items on eBay to reach a wider audience. And no, I wouldn't be selling any of these if I didn't have to...

Not the star wars line......

I came to this conclusion earlier this year and sold off the few SW PFs I had. Lacking adequate display space and to some extent money, I figure I'd be happier picking and choosing which ones to buy. Also, due to the influx of the last waves of SW 1/6 figures, I've decided not to collect that line anymore. The days of me being a completist are gone. A select few from various lines will have to do.

But, who ever forced you to be a completist? Just have fun, and make your own rules. Your collection shouldn't resemble Sideshow's product catalog, it's yours.

So well put. :clap

I know that had to be hard decision Lonnie, but I can definitely understand. I hope you collection will be even more pleasurable for you now without that "completist" aura hanging over it.

Of course, now I have to deal with the fact that my idol has fallen:monkey2

j/k what I really meant to say is what's the ebay id :lol

I whole-heartedly agree... problem is, except for things like World of Froud, I liked everything Sideshow put out and would collect them for my own collection if I had the space and money. I can't think of one item in my collection that I disliked enough to part with after receiving it. Maybe if I hit the lottery one day and buy it all back... :rotfl

... same as here... but there are many pieces already in the For Sale section first, with more to follow. I did list a few pieces on eBay because the fewer pieces I have to sell, the better, so...

Hey Lonnie, i know how you feel. I just had to end my Star Wars 12 inch line to focus more on 1/4 scale collection and i'm a big Star Wars fan :monkey2

Yeah I've had to make the cut, it's Star Wars, Vintage Horror, Comic Characters ONLY. Anything else got cut from ANY company. But I'm happier with less stuff I like more. Though Aliens keeps sneaking into my greedy site and I may add them soon, they can count as vintage horror? Right? RIGHT!>?!?!?!?

As long as you keep your super rare and early SS stuff I think you should be ok lonnie. Its always sad when you have to start to let things in your collecton go. But I think most collectors will reach that time eventually.

It is always sad when you have to let something go....but on the bright side, if you do have to let something go that you already have, I'll be more than happy to take it off your hands. :chew :chew

Can't have everything, so I decided to just have the "gems" of my favorite lines.

Captain America PF, Dagobah Luke PF, and Frodo PF (sorry Lurtz fans, but I didn't want a bad guy.) If a Gandalf or Aragorn PF is announced I may forego Frodo.

I'm keeping a few SW 12 inchers and might expand that to a handful more over the course of the next couple of years.

By focusing solely on the "gems" I don't have to worry about seeing all the great collections out there, since no one collectible will be more sought after than any of my top three.

well, i'm pretty much selling all of my SW stuff too so i can collect the marvel dio line so i know how you feel Lonnie.

Yes... until I can afford to have a dedicated display room addition built I have to be picky as well. And I rent. So that's... years away.

I have found that having to say goodbye to some pieces make the surviving items all that more glossy.

Lonnie,

I completely understand what it is your saying but in the long run just buy what your really truely into. I know that Sideshow puts out some much great awesome jaw dropping stuff but if you really only into Monster even though you may think that for example Doctor Doom is awesome piece but if the character doesn't do it for it then maybe you shouldn't be trying to collect it. I hope this isn't stopping you from going to SDCC.

Bob
