Yeah, I could tell that it was the stock, I just meant that the beefing up the body made a huge difference. What materials would you use and how hard would it be to do that if you had little experience in customizing figures?

To be clear, the head pictured above is the stock Takara head. I have it posed so that it's not too obvious, but the head is too small after bulking up the body.

I don't think ZaCHw117 said otherwise did he? He commented on how great it looks.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, that's a fantastic looking mod you made to the figure and the head, though a bit small looks fine. Why are you always so hard on it? That's a bad ass looking Batman Maglor.

Agreed 100% Its awesome. The head looks fine to me. Can't even tell the difference between it and pics of the real suit!

I'll have to take some different angled pics to give a better idea of size. There's a reason I only post 2 kinds of pics of him: 1) from the front with the head turned (which makes the head look larger, 2) from and angle (which makes the body look narrower).

Trust me, it's more noticeable in-hand. But I appreciate the sentiment.

I'm very happy with how the body turned out, but the custom head would take the figure to the next level.


As a side point: I personally believe that after modification, the Takara suit is more screen accurate than the HT OC suit.

Totally agree. To be honest, I think that hot toys hasn't done much compared to other companies on Bats' suits. They are great with their jokers but I like Medicoms TDK bats way better then hot toy's. Do you know where to pick a takara bats up at? There's one on ebay going for over 240$ (Thats without shipping). Is this a regular price for a takara bats?

I own the Takara and I can picture what it would look like with a bulked up body (I've had thoughts about trying it actually but I have the OC TDK so there's really no need to), in hand and really, I doubt it's that bad. I encourage you to take more shots and I bet it still looks good.

If anything, I think the thing that makes the head appear on the small side is the arms from the elbows down (gauntlet/forearm/fists) and the thighs are slightly larger. Everything else like the torso and the shoulders matches and looks beautiful proportional wise.

Maybe more front shots, something like this perhaps?

I know it's been discussed to death but in Begins the look of the look of the suit was never consistent. Sometimes the cowl and suit looked perfect (the rooftop scene at the end) and other times he looked like a ridiculous buffoon (Narrows, not who I am underneath). Sometimes his head looked small like in Arkham Asylum while it looked fine in another scene.

With your photography and lighting I bet you can make it look just as good as those two shots, if not better.

If someone is interested, I would like to trade my custom Takara Batman suit on a Hot Toys body for a regular one. I was able to upgrade my jumpsuit Bruce with a Hot Toys OC suit and now I want to display the Takara as Batman, however Id have to change the bodies again. Its quite a pain and turned out nice so if someone wants to trade, PM me.

Once again, for clearrification: I only want to trade the body+suit. Not the other Takara parts.

Ok, someone had to do it sooner or later. Ordered some HT boots for my Takara Batman and they didnt fit.

Anyway. I wasnt happy with my Ghostbuster Egon having a HT TT body (the one without narrowed shoulders) so I decided to risk it all and switch the bodies...
I undressed the Takara Bats and put the costume on a TT wide shoulder body, added the boots and everything. Belt is still missing as it is still in the box due to moving the apartement but you get the idea. I dont recommend doing this, because the suit ripped apart at 4 parts (pants at the top of the back, both shoulders and a little how under the right chest, everything barely noticeable). It is just too dangerous. My damages were minor ones and not noticeable, especially with Bruce wearing the jumpsuit outfit but I was lucky. Dont do it. Nevertheless I am happy I did it. Finally I have the perfect 1st Night Out Bruce.

Nah, even with the Hot Toys TDK OC I still have sentimental value for the Takara. It was my first 1/6 Batman figure and it might not be the best anymore but I still dig it.

You should be able to find one on ebay at an affordable price. I'll keep my eyes open for you.

$245 is over priced. I've seen them go for less.

And yeah, there are two versions of it. The first release and then the second run. I'm not aware of differences per se other than the boxes. The first box had a red takara logo and the second run had a blue.

I've seen prices fluctuate. There have been some that are MIB that end for $150, while others are near $200 or more. It just depends.

I bought mine back in 2007 I believe from Bigbadtoystore. Paid $190 for it.

I got mine from a member here for a good price. Already modded but I saw the OC Batman and I did like the sculpt a little better. I'm hoping the repaint I'm getting done to it will maybe even make it better.

Well I know the body was worked on and stuffed with cotton so he doesn't look skinny. I forgot if the head got worked on but when I had a chance to get it re-painted by betomatali, I had to do it.

Does he look weird when he has all the spelunking gear with the BW sculpt after the bulking up mod? Or does it make him look better?
