looks sort of uneven. no offense. could just be the camera.
EDIT: as in the body
Thanks Mag!Look good Gipetto. How are you getting the head to turn?
Thanks Mag!
And I just have to turn the entire piece. There's only swivel articulation now, but all the up, down, or tilting articulation is gone. Definitely looks alot nicer now though
Still contemplating the OC for a later purchase
As good as OC is, the price is a killer. I took mine out of the box yesterday - I'm not supposed to until Christmas, but as I'm planning to sell my medicom TDK OC I wanted to put them side by side for a direct comparison.
TDK OC = $90
HT OC = $400 (can pick him up for more like $350 for those in the US)
HT OC is better in every way, with the notable exception of the cape, which medicom did a great job on. But is HT OC $310 better?
The two things that stand out as deal breakers are: medi's puny chest and the 12mm (1/2inch) height difference. If the height difference wasn't there, and I could easily pad the chest, I would think twice before forking out the cash for the HT version.
With the Takara, height isn't an issue and the chest is relatively easy to pad by the looks of it. So the only thing that really grates has to be the boots. If you can live with the boots I can't see too many reasons why you'd shell out an extra $150-200 for a HT Bats over Takara's.
Having said that, I don't regret for one minute getting mine... but I'm sure a lot of that is just because I became obsessed with this particular version and convinced myself I wouldn't be happy with anything else. These Takara mods are looking sweet!
Lejuan, could you take some pics of only your Medicom TDK OC please! I've been trying to find good pics of him and there aren't many or really any. I'm considering picking up medi's second attempt later to mod so I'd really like to see some great pics of him
as for the Takara, I'm looking for HT boots at the moment to put on him as well as later giving him lforigno's velvet cape
This is NOT the same figure as before.
- The cowl/headsculpt is much better in both likeness of Bale - and the quality of painting. The eyes have much more life to them - and the colors on the chin are more life-like than before. Bats looks more menacing in a subtle way.
- The armor is made from the new more rigid plastic that was used on the "Alien" figure. I hope Medicom uses this material from now on because it feels much more durable than the rubber suit from before - and has a much nicer sheen to it. And the material retains more sculpt details while it is more thin than the rubber and allows more movement.
- It appears that they used the "Massive" body this time instead of the Kai. Bats has more bulk in the shoulders and chest - and his legs are more muscular. The new armor helps also because it retains the muscle sculpting details better than the rubber before. No more "kid in a Bat suit" look - but still not bulky like the HT versions.
- Poseablity has been much improved. I will play with him more later, but his arms can be bent in the fist pump pose which was not possible with the first figure. And his legs bend much more easily at the knees. And the torso rotation and bending is possible now (was barely possible before).
- The cape is still nicely lined - but is a thinner material this time. Looks just as nice - but is much lighter in weight and folds/drapes more naturally.
- I'll have to compare with my old version later - but I think the belt is a new sculpt. It looks much much better and has more details. It fits better also.
- Boots, Hands, and Gauntlets use a different material that better matches the sheen of the body armor. On the old figure - these were a little too shiny and plastic looking. And I think the hands have been refined a bit - I'll have to compare more closely. The boots were kickbutt with the first figure - and seem unchanged this time around - but I will compare closely also.
Overall first impression: I'm glad I bought this 2nd Version!!!
He actually looks like how I modified the first figure - and better since the headsculpt has been 90% improved. And the new body looks awesome.
