Why not build better "doors" for that pit? They can build walls like the ones they did for Alexandria and for the road. Or build a moat right outside the semis that are blocking, so when walkers start getting out, they just fall into the moat. Or block the exits with more boulders.

My point is: that quarry seems like the perfect way to contain walkers. Not only that, it even attracts more walkers to trap! So just work harder at fortifying the exits to the quarry!

I was fine with the B&W stuff. It made the flashbacks quicker to identify and it was an interesting stylistic choice for this one episode that also harkened back to the comic.

I thought Morgan was being very judge-y to Rick, judging every word and every action he did. But I guess ultimately he was good with what he saw.

And it has to be the wolves blasting the siren. Even that kid wouldn't be stupid enough to sabotage that plan and pretty much get everyone killed.

I agree with what you have said, it seemed like the quarry, with some work, was the perfect walker trap. They could have taken some time to thin out the herd, so to speak, before letting them loose on the countryside and causing problems for not only themselves but other survivors as well.

Don't get me wrong, it was a legitimate explanation to why Alexandria had few run ins with walkers and also made the numbers of walkers believable, but I just worry what will be next, because hey always try to outdo themselves on this show.

I think I will just watch that crappy Once Upon A Time show. I can't stand it. But maybe it will be fun to watch it and go in that thread (it has a thread, right?) and complain about it and play the armchair quarterback. :yess:

:goodpost: I think you're onto something here! Now, what series do I want to waste an hour of my life to each week and then ***** about how bad it sucks?:idea

I can't believe I'm just now finding this thread!

I've been a huge fan of this show since its premiere on Halloween 2010. I thought the season premiere was a brilliant episode. Full of action, character development, suspense, solid dialogue, and a surprising amount of humor. I loved the way the present-day stuff and the flashbacks were spliced together...I thought it was great storytelling. During my first viewing, I was indifferent toward the black and white, and I thought the chilling music used during the present-day stuff would have sufficed to differentiate it with the flashbacks. When I watched it a second time though, the black and white really grew on me. 10/10 episode for me. Can't wait for chaos to ensue next week!

There have been several comments about Rick and the group letting the Walkers out of the quarry without having a good plan or not finishing fully lining the streets with cars. Is everyone forgetting that the quarry was not going to contain the Walkers anymore once the 18 wheeler fell over the cliff? Once that happened, they had no choice but to execute the plan before Walkers satrted roaming free of the quarry.

Welcome to the fray zackhigh1226. As you have probably deduced by now, people either really love or really hate this show in this thread. Glad to see you are not another hater.

I am beginning to think that people watch this show while surfing the web or playing games on their phone or something. Buncha ADD kids that can't concentrate on 1 thing at a time, lol.

Thanks for the welcome! :) Yeah...it seems to be like that everywhere...here, Facebook, YouTube, the Skybound page for the comics, you name it. People either love this show, or hate it. It really is a shame that some people express so much hate for it, because it's a well written, compelling drama that the actors and the crew work so hard to make special. Also, I've met most of the cast, so I can personally say they're all really nice/cool people who deeply and sincerely care about their fans. It's truly disappointing to see their hard work get so much hate.

You make a very good point about the truck. Once it collapsed, they had no choice but to proceed with the plan.

I dug Sunday's episode. Lots of fake looking CGI shots in the quarry with the walkers and smoke and that weird, long, lingering shot of the walkers approaching the camera, but a good season opener.

I'll be sure to tune in next week to see what's going on with that blaring horn.

The whole plan of leading those zombies out was stupid and something they never should have done, just a garbage moment for the show to create a false sense of suspense... up until the end. They would have just pulled the semi truck out, let some zombies come out, close it back up, kill them, repeat until that is empty. Sure it would take a long time, but why did they only block off that small area with cars but then did not do the same for the whole way... or more importantly at least block the way that lead to Alexandria with cars.... but nooooo..... they leave the path to Alexandria completely open. They would not have done that.

How the hell were they supposed to block acres of forest that led to Alexandria? That makes no sense.

As for the B&W footage, it was a stylistic choice. I liked it. I like B&W movies. At any rate, I don't really see the problem... :dunno

I really liked this episode. Rick is still borderline psycho, but he seems to be slowly coming back?
Daryl needs something to do, he's just becoming a background character, the man needs to do something.

Of course we're not forgetting. I'm just saying to focus on blocking the exits instead of working on luring them away. I mean, how long did they spend building the walls and driving the cars to block the roads? A couple of days? Use that same time to block the exits that were in danger of being compromised in the quarry.

How long would blocking the exits last? If you had a wild animal living near your house would you build barriers to keep it from entering your yard or would you call animal control and have it taken away? Since there is no animal control in the zombie apocalypse, Rick and company took matters into their own hands.

There is no right or wrong answer, only preference. I would prefer the more permanent solution of removing the threat/animal, rather than the short term solution of trying to contain the threat.

Why does the dumb broad go down in the basement in a haunted house? Why does the jock dude go outside the cabin when he hears a noise, knowing full well there is a killer outside?

Because it would be boring if they didn't.

I'm not trying to be argumentative--I'm just responding:

As I said before, the quarry is the perfect place for the walkers. If they can permanently close off the exits, then the walker problem is virtually solved. It's a giant pit in the ground, that attracts more walkers to get trapped in the giant pit in the ground! Barring killing each walker one by one, this is probably the best solution out there! Seriously, if you wanted a place to contain walkers, a hole in the ground seems to be the best option.

Rick's solution can still come back and bite them in the butt. All they're doing is sending them out 20 miles? They're still out there and could possibly come back. But, if they were to be lured to say, a giant pit in the ground that they can't get out of, then that would be ideal, don't you think?

So, unless that was really Rick's plan all along--to find another quarry to stick them in, then I say the original quarry was a great place to keep them. Just fortify the exits.

Or maybe the writers shouldn't have come up with such a perfect walker-keeping scenario. Then we all wouldn't be contesting the merits of Rick's plan!

Problem with your solution is then it becomes a liability for Alexandria. Any enemy who wants to wipe out Alexandria only needs to attack whatever plugs are in place at the quarry and set them loose.

Was there not tractors at the building with walkers inside? Why not fire up a bunch of heavy duty machinery, insulate it a bit and run them over bit by bit?

They can't so keeping them in the quarry is not a viable option. I'm not being argumentative, just disagreeing with your scenario.

Ding, ding ding. We have a winner!

Or turn on a light when they enter a dark room. I love how people don't do that. It's the first thing I do when I come home at night. Turn on a light!
