I actually liked Shane a bit in this ep. They are totally setting up his demise though.

Definitely... but I must say I agree with him. I would have approached the barn situation differently but with mostly the same end results. It's killed or be killed!

Did not expect sophia. Really sad to see her come outta nowhere. Also sad to see the Old man's reaction when they gunned down his family. Crazy stuff.

Wow I really cant stand Shane went and killed all the walkers in the barn. I did not expect Rick to kill Sofia on spot. Very powerful episode.

Dale hit the nail on the head. Shane is perfect for this world. The only stupid thing he said though is that he'd rather die than become like Shane. Honestly, as I've been saying from the get-go, to survive in a world like that, they need a Shane. Proof's in the pudding where Rick "Shaned" up at the end to handle business.

Another part is I think they're gonna set up a major turning point for Carl psychologically. I know they are deviating from the comics a bit but in the ep when Shane teaches Carl to shoot seemed rather forboding imho. They even mentioned it in Talking Dead.

True true, I think Shane should have taken the situation at the end at bit differently, maybe in a calmer manner and not in front of Hershel. Its hard to see Hershel's family and friends killed right in front of him. Rick though I give him props if anyone had to kill Sophia it would be him. Now Feb hurry on up

Not sure he really needs to explain himself at all, they have been saying from the beginning that this will not 100% follow the comics and they will deviate.

This episode was awesome tonight! The last 10 minutes were every intense.

I did suspect Sophia was in there as soon as we learned what was in the barn. However, the fact that it was more important to Hershel to keep this secret than it was to let a grieving mother know that they had a little girl in there was disturbing.

And Shane is the one who's really getting on my nerves. Which is a tragedy since he's got one hot kick ass body.

I understand not staying 100% to the comic. I'd be incredibly naive to not have noticed that all this time, and more so to assume that they would. No show or movie stays 100% to whatever it's original medium was. I am simply saying that turning Sophia and shooting her dead could be considered an extremely premature storyline compared to her comic status, and I would be curious to hear Kirkman's reasoning for doing it. Granted, Sophia's not much of a big player in the comics, but she does influence a lot of other things that do happen.

The show is going to make a lot of people happy with the new additions of people and storylines, and it's going to piss a lot of people off.

I'm teetering on the line of pissed off just because I read and enjoyed the comics so much. It's hard to see the original thing you read be changed so much. I don't mind a lot of things (i.e the creation of Daryl;

, etc). But a lack of certain characters not being in the story at all (at least not yet), characters hitting their expiration date way early, blah blah... it's bothersome to me.

I'm curious to see where they go from here. Feb can't come fast enough. How long before Shane completely cracks? Because he's just about there, what with that whole mess at the barn. I liked Dale's comment though, Shane really was built for that world.

I can't remember the last time watching a tv show made my heart pound the way it did during that whole barn sequence. I was so wrapped up in it that I had completely forgotten about Sophia, so that completely took me by surprise.

I wouldn't mind knowing his reasoning, although it might not have been his idea, I don't see it as being a big deal. One less character they have to worry about and we as an audience have to worry about. I have been saying from the beginning the Sophia story line was pivotal to creating the character dynamics we have now. Her turning into a zombie and getting killed by Rick in my opinion, was 100%, necessary to complete that arc. Now we know where everyone stands and have the core of this group built so we can move on.
