Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

Agree to disagree.

Same story, just different avenues to arriving at the same destination.

Same audience, we all love the same genre.

Not quite. Both have common traits, no doubt, but they also must bow to different needs.

The comic can appeal to a niche audience. It can also introduce and kill characters at will, with little regard to contract. It can create scenarios with no concern for budget. The only voice that matters for a character is that of the writer.

The show must always bow to the ratings and the dollar. Characters must be tailored to the strengths of the actors, and heed must be paid to their needs and demands. This is why you won't see half as many children on the show as you did in the book, and why the show will have to accelerate its pace if its to keep up with Carl's puberty.

The other issue at hand is that both series are ongoing. There is no clear end, though the odds are the show will be over long before the comic. This pretty much demands the show take its own path, and the introduction of new characters, and altering the fates of old ones, should have made it clear to the fans of the comic that would be the case.

Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

Thanks ink, they put them out on Bluray or netflix? How far in is the second season, it's killing me not knowing what Jenner whispered in Rick's ear!!! :gah:
"I watched you while you showered."

The DVD/BR sets hit about a month or two after S1 ended, but then they released a "special edition" just before the second season started to air. My guess is you'll be able to get the second season some time in May, though I hope they avoid the double dip this time.

You could also just get digital copies from iTunes and Amazon. The eps are usually up on Monday.

Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

I just don't like how the women in this show are. It makes me angry that I don't like any of them. :lol

They're too grounded to be interesting for me. Andrea having super human shooting power WAS interesting, and I wanted to see more of that.

Lori is just a boring character. So whatever she does, amplifies to 1000 for me. :lol Aside from her in the car wreak, she just hasn't been that interesting.

Carol's boring too. I would've loved to see her risk her neck to find Sophia in the woods. I really want to see these characters be some what strong, at least until a point. Like Glenn. He can hold his own around Walkers, but when it comes to guns shot at you, he freezes up.

Remember Andrea didn't get her shooting powers until the second year of the comic (which we're approaching now), Lori was always a useless, whiny _____ (though more likable in the show than in the comic I think), and Carol was just plain crazy.

Andrea has certainly been moving towards being a stronger character, and maybe the events of the season and Darryl's presence will dramatically alter Carol's fate. Lori's in a tough spot as long as Shane is around - hopefully that will be rectified soon.

Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

A theory for what Jenner whispered to Rick.

Putting in spoiler tags if you don't want to read a theory.

Do you think Jenner told Rick that one of them is infected?

Implying the person infected is immune because they haven't turned yet.

If so why didn't Jenner try to create a cure with their blood? Well the station was gonna blow up and there was just no time for him to do so. Jenner gave up hope, he saw himself as the last scientist alive. Maybe he told Rick that hope lives with them, and to somehow get somewhere that can help with a cure.

There are flaws with the theory, if one of them is immune then why is Rick not frantically trying to get the immune person to the proper authorities so that a cure can be created? Why would he keep such a thing a secret, if that person does get killed by something that is not a zombie, then they have to harvest their blood/DNA and freeze it.

I have not read the comics, so i dont know if there are immune people in the comics (and I don't want to know), which could add truth to the theory. All speculation at this point.

I really hope we find out this season what Jenner told Rick, if they wait until next season, then that is just stupid.

I'd forgot about that. I hope we find out what was said. Anymore theories on this?

I think he will tell them that they are all already infected and that when you die you will turn.

Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

I think he will tell them that they are all already infected and that when you die you will turn.

So they all got infected by the virus via the air? It's airborne. They then must be killed by unsurvivable means such as a gunshot to the heart or zombies eating them alive, since the virus cannot kill them if they already have it. All it does is bring them back as walkers.

But wouldn't some things on the show contradict this? Jim was bitten in the stomach in season 1, it appeared he died from the fever and literal infection of the virus, since it kills you once you contract it. But if they already have the virus, then a bite in the stomach like Jim had should have been survivable and Jim would still be alive today.

The classic scenario is: you get bitten and you die. The virus is the reason.

But what your theory says is: You get bitten and you can survive. the virus is irrelevant unless you die.
