But why wouldn't they at least lunge or try to bite her? Zombies aren't smart enough to know they are limbless and jawless.

I'm not saying he didn't have a right to vent but he should've just layed out the facts of what Shane was trying to pull in the woods and made it clear he didn't know for sure about the virus. Then remind them that knowing about being infected wouldn't have changed anything. Then he should've pointed the gun at Lori and told her shut that sniveling runt up and see to her motherly duties.
