Re: The Walking Dead on AMC

Land was acceptable but is hard to watch with Hopper's lame overacting/gay and trendy political statement. I felt Diary was well done and underrated. Survival was based in Romero cannon and not only stank worse than a salmonella fart, but blew away most of the canon, he, himself established, freckling his reputation like said fart would a pair of tighty whities.

That pretty much sums it up. But Night and Dawn will always maintain his status as the king of Zombies.

As excited as I was when I first heard Survival was coming out that movie should never have been made. Diary was a decent movie but a lot of the acting ruined it. A sequal to Diary could have had the potential to start a whole new line of Romero zombie movies, but if Survival was the sequal that line has been ruined.

Re: The Walking Dead on AMC

I liked Simon Baker and John Leguizamo in LOTD, but the movie paled compared to the DOTD remake that same year. Thought Diary was garbage and won't bother with Survival till its on cable.

The Walking Dead looks good.

Re: The Walking Dead on AMC

I really need to read this series. It gets so much praise. I'm just turned off by the black and white of the comic.

I've been thinking about buying the omnibus, or whatever its called that is something like the first 50 issues in one volume.

NOTE: read "CHEW," if you like independent comics, currently on issue 11 or 12. GREAT series. Rob Guillory's art rocks and John Layman's writing is fantastic.

One thing about zombie movies . . . generally speaking . . . "the problem" is not necessarily the dead, but the living.

Don't waste your time. Seriously. :(

Re: The Walking Dead on AMC

thats a sad thing to hear Nam! :( we really need a better Dead show and I have high hopes for this one.

Re: The Walking Dead on AMC

I have faith in this new series. If it is half as good as the comic series we are in for a treat.

Mesa - you must get over your disdain for black and white comics, after reading this series for just a short while, you will become immersed in the characters and situations and not even realize there is no color. It is just that good, and I cannot wait to pick it back up. Seriously. And I hope you don't feel this way about films. Imagine steering clear of so many great films only because they are black and white.

Re: The Walking Dead on AMC

I agree with furystorm. It is black and white but it is "colored" with greys and browns that give the art a lot of life. Its not like reading the comic strips out of a newspaper. I think you'd be amazed at how well the artwork is done and the story is very addictive.

The omnibus volumes are huge and a bit clunky IMO. They also publish a TPB and a hard cover volume. I prefer the HC Volumes myself.

Re: The Walking Dead on AMC

I buy the trades because I don't want to wait for the Omni's & HC's.

One of the best modern comic series out there. Easily in the top 5 IMO. I have high hopes for this show too!

The series, due to start in October on cable channel AMC, stars Andrew Lincoln as Rick Grimes. After years of slow development, the series went into overdrive when producer Frank Darabont brought the show to AMC. Shortly after giving the okay to a pilot directed by the producer, the channel ordered five additional episodes for a six episode season. Darabont previously reported the first season will cover material prior to Grimes's arrival at the prison, suggesting the first season will be based on the first six-to-twelve issues of the series.

Re: Walking Dead TV series based on the comic

Walking dead is one of my favorite comics...can't wait to watch the TV series. The picture looks very promising.

Re: Frank Darabont to Adapt The Walking Dead for AMC

There was already a thread on this, so I merged yours Siren. Also changed the title, I didn't like yours Waller. :D

Thanks for the pic and info.

Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

Why the hell is not Oct yet :impatient:

I hope this lives up to my expectations.
