On Talking Dead she said that she did indeed go looking for Herschel. She was right next to him when he died and she wanted to take care of him. Michonne sees things that need to get done that not everyone else sees. She was in the position to put Herschel to rest and she set out to do just that. She may be the murdering machine on the outside, but she is a very caring person deep down. She just views that as being a weakness in this world and tries to harden herself to prevent that. But she clearly cared for Herschel as I believe everyone in the prison group did and she wanted to do right by him.

Plus I figured it was coming as she did the same thing in the comic. I think people often forget that a simple decapitation doesn't finish off a zombie. You've got to destroy the brain. Nearly half of Michonne's kills aren't even kills at all - she just disables them. Those heads can easily bite someone if they aren't paying attention and get to close.

I liked the fact that she used her hand to pull out the blade instead of her boot. It shows how much more open and attached she's becoming to the group. It was a good set-up for her tears when she sees Rick and Carl at the end.

Good episode.
You could see the bullet hole in the Governor's head. No ambiguity there. He's done.
I liked that Michonne took care of Herschel. She probably should have buried the head or tossed it out of sight, just so his daughters don't come across it.

Michonne definitely knows who she can trust. Coming to tears when finding Rick and Carl really showed how she feels about them.

And if you'll now excuse me... I have a can of chocolate pudding to finish.

I stand corrected.

:exactly: I liked that too. It was a sign of respect and caring.

I liked the episode, no complaints really other than pissy Carl... but then again it's accurate to the comic. So far it's a solid start.

This is what makes the character interesting to me.

Agreed. :goodpost:

I'm sorry, but I felt for a mid season premiere, it was kinda weak. They could've touched on where everyone was at least. It felt a little like a Rick and Carl soap opera too me. Just my opinion of course.

Well IIRC the issue following the Prison's downfall was all about those two, so in terms of accuracy they did a pretty close job to the source material.

Really enjoyed the episode, very close in a lot of ways to the comics which i enjoyed. Also really liked the talking dead, Danai was great and its always interesting when Nicotero is on.

Yeah.....but they've really not followed the show like the novels though. I guess the hype behind the premiere didn't live up to it for me. Trust me, I'm a huge fan of the show, I just hope they turn it up a notch next episode.

The story is pretty calm following the Prison, I don't expect it to get crazy.

I loved the episode. I loved it a lot actually. I thought what they did with Carl was excellent, he is still a kid, and watching him eat the pudding... that was a nice touch. It was a very emotional episode. it was very heavy in that sense. Both Carl and Michonne were going through a lot and I could feel their anguish. I loved that.

I thought the episode was perfect. I am glad they only focused on those three characters because it they showed how everyone else was doing it would have been too much. I hope the next episode only focuses on a couple of characters as well.

Carl is becoming my favorite character now.

I think they touched it up. Reminds me of The recent Thing movie. If you watch the youtube vid of the practical effects before they got altered, they look way more real and 3d and have depth and proper shading, when they touch it up with CGI it loses alot of that and looks more 2d.

that is not really the case. Universal completely replaced the practical puppets with CGI. the Thing movie has zero puppets when it was released. it was all completely covered.

It's like those guys made those puppets for nothing.

I don't think I will ever like Carl as a favorite character. :lol

He is just too young for me to relate to in that way. I get what they are doing with his character. His mood swings and know-it-all attitude on the show are a direct parallel to how a typical teenager acts in real life. He said some really mean and hateful things to Rick while he was unconscious without realizing the full impact of his words. Good thing Rick didn't hear it because that was just awful. Carl still has a lot of growing up to do in my book.

Just want to be clear that I don't have a problem with anyone liking Carl, but I think he might be more appealing to younger viewers.

I like him because I can see the change in him. He is a character that they can take changes with. Everyone else is pretty much already set, Daryl did change and I loved Daryl but then after he became a badass with a heart of gold then he stayed that way.
I like that we don't only see Carl grow up but he is probably the most human character of the group right now with Carol. To me their flaws make both of them more interesting.

As for what he said to Rick, I think fans of the show have felt that way at one time or another :lol And It felt like the writers acknowledging the fans' criticism. We all have felt that Rick has dropped the ball many times. I mean Carl lost his mom, he lost his sister and now the prison is destroyed... I don't blame him for losing it against his dad.

Good episode but didn't like how the zombies she cut up were so submissive so fast.

They explained in season three that once you remove their jaw and arms they become docile like that. In a sense its like neutering them. Once they lose the ability to attack and feed, they become mindless zombies.

About the zombies not noticing Michonne. Let's think about that for a minute.

How do they notice humans, by smell and movement (or sound) Rick was able to walk around them when he covered himself in zombie guts. they did not care for him.

As far as Michonne, she was walking like them. she was walking slowly and not moving her arms or anything. so movement wise, they wouldn't have noticed her. (She was also not making any noise while walking)

As far as smell, I guess the one mistake they did was not have her pets closer to her. That is the only thing I see wrong about it. she should have had the zombies walking right next to her or as close as possible. Perhaps Michonne having each zombie to her side. I see that as being a problem because they were too far from her.

But I didn't have any problems buying what Michonne did (besides the smell) because like I said Rick already did it before.

Besides as soon as she killed that girl zombie with the braids they ALL noticed her right away. it only took for her to move her arms around and the pets stopped working
