Re: The Walking Dead - by Velvet Morning & Kato - ONE HEAD DONE! PG. 26!

Lists updated.

Looks like were in for 24 total heads and 16 uniforms. I will arrange for Kato to get one of the head casts asap so he can start the uniform and I will PM everyone with an update on when deposits will be needed.

If anyone is thinking about a uniform nows the time to get on the list, because while Scott can always cast more heads, Kato will only buy enough material to cover those of us on the list. Don't want anyone to miss out.

Re: The Walking Dead - by Velvet Morning & Kato - UPDATE PG. 24!

Final Rick hatless version. I may futz around a bit more with it but I'm feeling like it's basically done. I'll start the hat and badge probably later this week. Hope you like it :wave-
Cheers- S.

Re: The Walking Dead - by Velvet Morning & Kato - ONE HEAD DONE! PG. 26!

I will probably go with the big bag in the back look full of weapons.

Here's a list of all the guns include in the bag

Harrington & Richardson Pardner Pump Compact, Mossberg 500, Mossberg 500 Persuader, two Remington 870s, Browning Automatic Rifle Safari, Remington 700, Glock 17 (possibly more then one), SIG-Sauer P226, Smith & Wesson Model 10 snub-nose, and a Colt Trooper.

I will be looking to see if i can find all the guns.

Re: The Walking Dead - by Velvet Morning & Kato - ONE HEAD DONE! PG. 26!

Well I thought I would do something constructive while I wait for Wash shirt (squee!) and start a series of posts to help people order all the bits and bobs they’ll need to give their Rick head a proper home.

The Boots
Rick wears cowboy boots but not the multicolored ornate things that are heavily stiched we’re used to seeing. Here are some images.

Hot Toys Wolverine has some pretty spot on boots but if you don’t already have them, finding them parted out might be tough. The same holds true for James Dean or Josh Randall. Newline has boots that are available as stand alone purchases from several places but for the price Triad’s Male Cowboy boots are hard to beat. For half the price of the Newline’s, you are just a coat of paint away from perfection.

Re: The Walking Dead - by Velvet Morning & Kato - ONE HEAD DONE! PG. 26!

Just a quick note that Triad boots won't fit Hot Toys feet and those New Lines are gigantic and likely won't fit under Kato's pants. I'd go with Hot TOys wolverine.

Re: The Walking Dead - by Velvet Morning & Kato - ONE HEAD DONE! PG. 26!

You are correct that the Wolverine boots are the best options. They look good, are the right color and are meant for Hot Toys' bodies. The main point of this and future posts are to put out there a variety of options at a variety prices for people so that a wider range of collectors can get in on this awesomeness. It’s a lot easier to justifying paying 50 dollars for a head when you know you can scrounge up the rest of the parts for less then that. With work both the Newline and Triad boots will work and are available for a fraction of the price of a Wolverine figure.

Re: The Walking Dead - by Velvet Morning & Kato - ONE HEAD DONE! PG. 26!

I know man, I own all 3 and am just pointing out that again the Triad boots won't fit over the hot toys feet without having to dremel the feet down considerably both the toes and the sides, its more work then you may think, I tryed using them for Travis and ruined a pair of feet and ended up going with a differant pair. Their just not very wide and with the toes being jointed, its hard to dremel them without breaking it off. And the Newlines are thick so they won't fit under the pants and you'll have to tuck the pants into the boots which wouldn't look right. Just a heads up. :duff

And I'm a lady :)

Kidding aside, I remember getting into this hobby when $30 was the standard price for a boxed figure, 10-12 for a packaged nude and people claimed a 40 dollar figure was going to ruin the hobby as we knew it. Back then I had enthusiasm and not much else and the world of customs was so far out of my reach. Now with age and a bank account to support my habit I try to do my part for the newbs or the financially less bold by putting my shopping skills to use for good.

Pretty cool work on that sculpt! I'd love to have 'em on my display roof :p

Re: The Walking Dead - by Velvet Morning & Kato - ONE HEAD DONE! PG. 26!

Just want to chime in on the boots. I used the Cowboy James Deadn originally but then I got a pair of Wolverine boots and they are definately the way to go.

T-1000 Police utlity belt and Wolverine boots are essential pieces for a great Rick IMO. A Dastan/Wolverine/Indy body is highly recommended as well. All you naysayers of the muscle don't know what you are talking about. The Advanced is just too small for Rick.
